  1. That's just semantics and still follows my logic. If I ask how many days does November have? And you say 28 or 3, then those are not correct answers.

Actually if you want to get really technical about the English here, can November actually have days?

  2. The question wasn't "how many days are there" it was "how many days have". It's very true to say they all have 28 days. It's misleading, but not false.

That's just semantics and still follows my logic. If I ask how many days does November have? And you say 28 or 3, then those are not correct answers.

  3. I think I could do this in two moves. You say with each move you advance half the distance to the door. Well if the distance to the door is 8 feet then, half the distance to the door is 4 feet. I'm not going to recalculate the distance every time I move, I'm just going to take it as a given that a move = 4 ft. So, ha! I'm there in two moves.

But he says 'with each move you advance half the distance to the door' not half of 8 ft. or half of your starting position.

  4. I get the answer of 'all of them' but is it really correct?

If I ask how many eggs are in a dozen, and you say 8 or 9 or 1 then none of those answers are correct. If I ask how many days are there in November and you say 28, then that is not correct.

  5. But to travel 10 miles I first have to travel 5. And then to travel the remaining 5 miles I first have to travel 2.5 miles. And to travel the remaining 2.5 miles I first must travel 1.25 miles... etc. etc.

So I still shouldn't be able to get anywhere

Why can't you say to travel 10 miles you first need to travel 7? 1? or 10?

  6. assuming the armored jeep is weaker than my bombs and napalm, I'd just setup everything explosive and the napalm to go off on the road to the heli-pad and wait in the helicopter. If there was anyone in the helicopter I'd take them out with the silenced pistol first. Then I'd set off the alarm by silently sniping a tree-mine. Then the guards driving and 3 targets would drive over my trap and all of them should die at once. There will then be a barrier of smoke and flame between me and the rest of the guards so that will give me enough cover to make sure the targets are dead with my night vision sniper rifle from the helicopter. Then I'd fly the chopper away. The smoke from the napalm would cover me enough so the sniper guards couldn't shoot me down (plus they have no night vision)

I'd be Solid Snake though, not Tom Cruise...

  7. But add a twist:

Can you explain how you get anywhere then? If I'm at work and I want to go to my house 10 miles away, how will I ever get there? First I must go half, and then half of the remaining, and then half of the remaining...

    How do I get anywhere?

You get anywhere by not following the logic of only moving a half the distance at a time. If your house is 10 miles away, then travel 10 miles.

Here's some more clarification on the naming of Earth: "The name Earth originated from the 8th century Anglo-Saxon word erda, which means ground or soil. In Old English the word became eorthe, then erthe in Middle English.[106] Earth was first used as the name of the planet around 1400.[107] It is the only planet whose name in English is not derived from greco-roman mythology."

The Earth was named way before we realized it was one of the planets. Therefore, there was no attempt to name it in a similar fashion to the other planets.

  9. romeo and juliet were found dead on the floor. there was water and glass on the floor the only things in the room are a bookshelf and a bed. the house is on a remote island and their is a train track near by. what was the cause of romeo and juliet's death?

Well putting aside the oddity of a train track on a remote island. I'd have to say that the bi-monthly train passed by and had an open car full of large metal pipes. Some of the pipes got dislodged, but didn't fall from the train. They just poked out just enough to smash through the only nearby house. Juliet was sipping a glass of water and Romeo was reading a book on the bed nearby when the pipes came crashing through the wall and killed them both. Incidentally, in the neighboring room, their fish were knocked over by the crash and died on the floor

  10. Another answer:

    tires or wheels.

As fast as an eagle, as slow as a slug.

they can move fast or slow

As tall as a tree, as small as a bug.

could be a monster truck tire next to a sapling or a micro-machines or matchbox car tire next to a beetle

    Sometimes in front, sometimes behind.

    Front tires or rear tires

Never on top, and always aligned.

These 2 can be refuted but hopefully you see the point, also the answer of a shadow can be refuted here as well. What if a tree was next to me casting its shadow on my head. Then a shadow would be on top of me.

  11. why couldn't the cops follow the pigeon? how would this be different than following any other kind of messenger?

I think you're giving cops too much credit. Do you really think they can follow a carrier pigeon?

  12. Nice job everyone B)) I'll throw in a few comments to clarify some things.

    1) There is a meaning to the order I picked. They are in Generational order:

    Uranus

    Cronus

    Zeus, Hades, Poseidon, Aphrodite

    Ares, Hermes

I chose this order to help (with Uranus) and to confuse (for the last 2)

    2) They don't have to represent the Greek versions of the planets. They are actually intended to be the Greek names for the planets. Not only is Pluto Greek, but so is Uranus which doesn't have much of alternative name except for Oraunos (spelled many different ways apparently)

    3) I used the original solar system because the current 1 gets too complicated with all the dwarf planets which Pluto is now a part, and what is and what shouldn't be classified as this or that...

    4) Also, a case could be made to include Gaia, so I added a hint that said she didn't meet 1 of the criteria. Her Roman counterpart is Terra. There is no Greek God that actually is corresponds to the name Earth
