You've seen it recently (we see numbers everywhere), but it hasn't been in the last few years (not since 2008). But I don't see how it's deep in ice.
Here's a collection of clues amassed so far...

hadn't thought of the 'ce'. the 'tip over' line was meant to be the symbol for infinity. intention of the ice line was a figure 8. deep usually means 'really' deep, but it can also mean a cm or so deep carving from an ice skate
also the first stanza can be the figure 8 bonanova pointed out or the actual age of the infant. say its 2 or 3, then they may have trouble getting by when they are 82 or 83

it's certainly a good answer and it follows the clues I've left well, but it doesn't fit all the lines. the answer is something completely different than anything guessed so far.I don't know why, but I want to say

I don't have a logical reason, just a gut feeling.
I think this one has gone on long enough so here are 2 big hints. I have 1 more hint to reveal if needed, but it will surely end things.
start solving by thinking about lucky things. and perhaps not universally lucky, but lucky to only particular cultures that may not be yours. the cultures that do find it lucky are very large.

The first:

As for #2, I'm guessing that an assassin was trying to kill him with a sniper rifle. The smoke in the train car allowed him to see the laser sight and successfully hide.

I think the Titanic answer is correct. Ballroom in a sunken ship. He died while exploring the wreckage because he ran out of air.lol
# 2:
The man was blind but recently had a operation to restore his sight. He is overjoyed at being able to see. Were he in a non-smoking car when the train went through a long tunnel, he would think he had gone blind again and killed himself in missery. However, in the smoking car, the light from the peoples cigarettes let him know he can still see. I think thats why it specified a train ride home, not a car full of smokers. lol
# 3:
I have heard a version of this before. one of the previous answers was close and made me remember it. The women is an assistant to a knife thrower. The new shoes have a higher heel on them causing her to be hit by one of the knifes.
# 4:
This one i think was correctly answered already. There is poison in the ice cubes. One man drinks his quickly and lives, the other drinks his slowly, the ice melts poisoning the drink, and he dies.
# 5:
J.Green acually helped me solve this one because i thought about his answer and it clicked. They are Siemese twins, thus completely identicle. They cannon punish the murderer because they will never be able to prove which of the two sisters actually did it. (all forensic evidence would be identical for them both).

I love all 4 of those =) in the vein of 'a scanner darkly', 'waking life' has a similar animation style and actually preceded it. it's very psychological and quite interesting as well. also, a very under known scorsese film is 'kundun' about the dalai lama. it's really excellentI agree with pretty much everything been said so far, especially itachi's recommendations, though I'd like to add...

heh after I posted that I thought about him. and I also forgot to mention Kubrick, my favorite director of all time... such astounding films as 'a clockwork orange' 'Dr. Strangelove' 'the Shining' 'Eyes Wide Shut' and '2001' all arguably the best of their respective genresYeah, Memento is good. Itachi, Agree on the tense dialogue flicks. Love 12 angry men, and what a stellar cast. I'm surprised nobody mentioned any Hitchcock . . . Rear Window rocks!
another director I find fascinating is takashi miike. I recommend 'audition' the most. it's not for the faint of heart though and it really sneaks up on you =) his work is so broad ranging from psychotic and sadistic yakuza flicks to westerns and family films. very interesting body of work

I'm not sure what your point is. you're assuming all cats have a pampering owner who chooses to do all that for the cat and allows the cat to do all these things. there are plenty of cats that don't have these luxuries and live their lives similar to a raccoon. even if we assume all cats live this way, it's not the cat's mental prowess that establishes and maintains this lifestyle. it's entirely contingent on the human and just luck on the cat's part reallyYou want to talk about my real meaning, though? Take a house cat. You don't own a house cat. A house cat owns you. Seriously. You take care of it, feed it, clean its litter box. You pet it, play with it. If the cat wants to cuddle, she'll cuddle. If the cat wants to jump on the counters and refrigerator, she'll do that. She's taking advantage of you in the most literal sense of the phrase, but if asked point blank most people would say that a cat is a lower life form. Why? Because cats don't think and reason using complex rationale? Because cats don't slave away night and day working two jobs while getting a degree? Cats don't worry or stress on an hourly basis. They don't wake up late and freak out.
Cats are the highest life form because they've found a way to survive (and have a pretty high quality of life) while doing very little.

a movie I recently saw that is quite artistic and interesting is 'enter the void' - very unique perspective as well

I do support Ron Paul to an extent but he takes things a bit too far imo. he's still the closest to my philosophy out there. everyone else seems corrupt or just plain stupid...

creative writing for pure mental stimulation is for me
for the build up, I like doing things that don't require as much thinking like reading and playing rpgs, or just something repetitive like exercise. when I'm done, my mind feels fresh and it all just flows out in my writing for hours without stopping
