  1. Child,if she had one wouldn't be a girl.

You can't really give a child to a girl. You can give your seed, but that would just make her a pregnant girl. Also, if you did give her a child (in a basket on her doorstep I'm assuming) having a child doesn't imply she is no longer a girl.

  2. You're right, i meant to say, the one who gets heads first wins $5. How do you do spoiler blocks? i am new to BrainDen. I joined yesterday.

When you post look at the left Quick Access boxes and the buttons above the typing area. Frame you're responses with Spoiler, Quotes, etc... Toggle the side panel if yours is hidden.

  3. This is a very hard puzzle.

I think I have the answer though, please be right.

Uranus, Cronus, Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Aphrodite, Eros, Hedone.

    (I know my Greek mythology)

Sorry, no dice. You do know your mythology though.

  4. You don't even have to make it that complicated. The question asks who is most likely to land heads first. The first boy is the answer because he goes first. He has a 1/2 probable chance before the second boy even gets a shot.

  5. Can you tell me if this is right?

Uranus, Cronus, Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Aphrodite, _______, ________

Yes, Uranus is the first blank. Since he is solved, I'll provide a brief version of the God family tree that has been touched upon in prior posts. Uranus is father to Cronus, easy enough. Cronus ripped off Uranus' testicles, threw them in the ocean and thus was born, Aphrodite. The Gods aren't anything, if their not gruesome.

  6. I cant find a link between their roles i.e. God of thunder, love, dead etc, and neither can i find a link between their relationships to each other? can we have a hint or are we almost there?

Sure, here's a hint based on your answer:

You shouldn't be able to find a link between their roles, but there is a link between their relationship

  7. No, Aphrodite doesn't fit the blank. Aphrodite was born on some seashell i think. Putting it out there, Aphrodite is married to Hephaestus, the god of the forge and smithery.

What do you mean by 'Aphrodite doesn't fit the blank'? She is one of the given names.

  8. Mr. Y is out $6 + the cost of the toothpaste.

It's easy if you pretend that the fake $10 bill doesn't exist:

    Mr. Z gives Mr. Y $10

    Z is down $10, Y is up $10

    Mr. Y gives Mr. X $6 + toothpaste($t)

    Z is down $10, Y is up $4 minus $t, X is up $6 and a tube of toothpaste

    Mr. Y gives Mr. Z $10

Z is even, Y is down $6 and $t, X is up $6 and a tube of toothpaste

Well, about the cost of toothpaste idea. It depends on how you look at it. Say the toothpaste cost Mr. Y $2. Then he'd be out $8 bucks. But he already purchased the toothpaste at $2, which is finalized before the riddle takes place. Now he expects to sell it for $4, so that would make $10. So is he out what he paid for the toothpaste or is he out for what he would sell the toothpaste?

  9. So he sends his assistant to the next door shop owner (Mr. Z) to get change. The assistant hands over $10 bill, which he got from Mr. X

The OP is pretty clear about the fake $10 coming from Mr. X. So Mr. Y is out $10 because he did everything properly. Nice guys finish last I guess.

  10. Since when do poor people have nothing? Poor people can have clothing, food, even land/homes.

I agree. I've never liked this riddle, or any variant, because of the absolute meaning implied in the word 'nothing'.

A poor man has something. (ex. clothes, eyes, hair, a shopping cart full of cans, etc...)

A rich man needs something. (air, food, poor people to step on, etc...)
