0 CaptainEd
Plainglazed, you’ve added even more mystery to rocdocmac’s puzzle. I feel total lack of confidence in this answer: Egad! It’s Slaughter House 5!

0 CaptainEd
I need a better Babelfish; I feel like the character Easy in Cahoots Macbeth. It is very funny seeing both of you (and presumably the rest of the Den) know what you’re talking about, while I am clueless. Thanks for trying to help, Rocdocmac. :-)
0 rocdocmac
Plainglazed ... Spoiler 5 is correct. Answer the second sequence too and then we can reveal the reasons why. 2nd one a bit trickier, isn't it?
0 rocdocmac
That's one possibility! Spoiler Depending on language: CH (Scottish/German ”ch”), Χ (Greek chi/Russian xa), Ĥ (Esperanto), phonetic χ or Š (Croatian), phonetic ʃ Edited April 20, 2019 by rocdocmac
0 flamebirde
I must admit I am also incredibly lost... Spoiler Does it have something to do with the pronunciation of the number with the given letter/phonemes?
0 rocdocmac
Spoiler In the first instance (E I S H 5), 4 letters plus one numeral occur in the sequence. No pronunciation involved. In the second case (T M O CH 0), "CH" is not a pronunciation, but merely a representation of the digraph "ch". Three letters, one digraph and one numeral involved. I called the original OP an interjection sequence since the word "eish" (pronounced "aysh") incidentally appears in the sequence. It has nothing to do with the solution, however! You can google its meaning. Edited April 23, 2019 by rocdocmac part moved to spoiler

0 flamebirde
Spoiler something to do with unicode maybe? it can't have to do with the order of the letters of the alphabet... 0 Thalia
Seems pretty obscure. Gave up and found it using Google.
