I usually try to keep it simple, taking a situation or object and spinning the riddle around it like a spider's web. The best approach is to try not to overthink it... The thing that I am looking for is exactly that.... a thing, that is No abstract emotions or scenarios but a tangible piece of matter that you can touch, smell, lick, kick, or bang your head against when you get confuzzled by one of plainglazed's word puzzles... Things are going well on my side of the internet... although work has been crazy busy the last week or two, and I could use some sleep. I think a bottle works particularly well with "another spiteful hiss." I think the answer likely involves escaping gas of some kind. A balloon animal also works for some clues, but fails with others.
