Max. # of convex/concave hexagons possible using 6 points

I asked Magic if the redirect shows up in the night post if it's used, and they said it doesn't. So I don't think we can conclude that Jack is dead or inactive. I'm also not entirely convinced that Flamebirde is indy. It's almost equally plausible that a new player is the indy and wouldn't even have thought of self trapping and was just acting randomly, or that an experienced player is indy and trapped Flamebirde in an effort to frame him by arguing that it would be a natural indy strategy to trap himself since his wincon is to outlive other players. But (so people who don't know who the regular mafia players are can be on the same page) Flamebirde is certainly experienced enough that it's very believable that he figured that self-trapping would be the best strategy as the indy. How does Zero's ability work? Does he get told "The baddie NK target on the previous night was [role that got killed]"? Or does he say "Tell me who [player] targeted" and then get told "[Player] targeted [other player] in one of the previous nights"? And can Zero submit an action on night 1 and learn who a player acted on during night 1? Edit: changed "I don't think we can say if Jack is dead or inactive" to "I don't think we can conclude that Jack is dead or inactive."

I've never heard of that one before (so obviously not exactly what I had in mind), but after googling I see that the second of those fits all the clues equally well.

If you think Flamebirde is very likely indy, the order of actions has both block and redirect trumping kidnap. I've made a role narrowing by claiming that I submitted an action on night 1... if you look at the roles' abilities, that would make sense with only three of the five goodie roles. I'd rather not rule myself in or out as being the redirect since both the indy and the baddie would like to see the redirect dead (the indy because it's part of their wincon, and the baddie because if the redirect is known to be dead then the goodies know they can't kill the baddie until after they've killed the indy) and the goodies should definitely try to avoid that scenario. So if you want me to say any more to get the votes off, let me know what I could say that wouldn't give away too much.

1. Flamebirde - Kidnapped 2. BMAD 3. phil1882 - DEAD 4. bonanova 5. Kikacat123 6. plasmid - voting for Framm 7. Framm18 - Voting for Plasmid Is the kill blocking? (i.e. does it block the action of the victim during the night that they're killed) Does Jack's redirect appear in the night post if it's used? I'll hold off asking if we're using OOA or OOP since that would confuse everyone except Framm. We know that Flamebirde can't be the baddie since Kidnap > Kill and the kill happened while he was kidnapped. Kikacat can't be any of the actions that appeared in the night post {block, save, baddie, indy} so is guaranteed to be a goodie. Well, I guess she could be the goodie block and could have self-blocked, but that would just be silly. So out of Framm, BMAD, Bonanova, and myself lurks the baddie and likely the indy (unless Flamebirde is the indy and self-trapped, or phil was the indy and kills are not blocking). Or if Jack's redirect doesn't appear in the night post even if it's used, then it's also possible that phil was the baddie and got redirected to himself. Usually people won't drop hints to get voting pressure off of themselves if they only have one vote on them, but since this is a small game and for the sake of getting new players accustomed to how we roll, I'll say that I submitted an action for N1. And now I'll give Framm an excuse to give a little bit of Mafia tutorial to the new players.

Close, but not quite on the mark. And as you said, largely because some of the later lines describe things that that answer doesn't do.

I don't think Google is involved, at least not for the second one. If you take out the letters for "Google" and "as far as I can see", the only letters left are NEML. Maybe "On golem leg as far as I can see" for the second one? Doesn't make too much sense to me, but I have no idea what's going on in the game and if there are any giant golems that need to be searched. (Maybe this is a Final Fantasy theme and there are moogles around?)

First 2014 puzzle. Dissection of a triangle

Indeed, beautiful solution, k-man! (Especially compared to all that slogging I was doing. ) -
Woman's silhouette I trace 'neath hat, in one-piece dress With hand around my lovely waist My hairless head caress Then uncouth belch defiles the air My blood thereby is spilt Wind cries not my name so fair As howls protest a tilt Edit: changed And to As in the final line

Drat. I just looked over that again and saw that I divided instead of multiplying when manipulating that equation after introducing the deltaA term, so it won't work. -

Does the game end (with a goodie loss) if the indy achieves its wincon? If so, then if Jack dies, the goodies will have to kill the indy before killing the baddie.
-
Confirmed. Just want to make sure about the indy wincon: If Oogie Boogie dies before Jack dies, would that make the game end with a loss for the indy? If that's the case, then the only way the indy can win is by making sure Jack dies first and trying to keep the baddie alive as long as possible until Jack is dead. So the indy should probably be considered to be sided with the baddie, at least until endgame.

Edit: This assumes that the legs of the stool form a square. Determining whether it applies if the legs are in any other orientation is left as an exercise for the reader.

The "aha!" problems 5. Four-point square
plasmid replied to bonanova's question in New Logic/Math Puzzles
If lines AC and BD are perpendicular and of different length, then line D-D' will not have two different perpendiculars with one going through A and one going through C... both perpendiculars will emanate from the same point. So in the end it wouldn't really describe a square so much as a point whose "edges" if extended would touch each of the four points. But I do think your solution is far more Aha-y. -
Are you asking us to find the number of different ways of performing operations on a set of four numbers? For example, if you were to label the four numbers on the plate A, B, C, and D, do you want us to enumerate how many possible ways there are to perform the operations on them, like 1) A+B+C+D 2) A+B+C-D 3) A+B-C+D ... N) (A*B)/(C-D) ... X) (A-C+D)/B ... Or are you asking whether there's any way to guarantee that you can perform some set of operations to come up with 10 for any set of four numbers when they are not all the same?

How can you mirror player 1's first move in the center of paper? If player 1 places their point at (0, 0), place yours at (0, 1/infinity).
