Grayven, are you also finding that the "...NoMacroRev2" or Rev3 are still claiming that there are macros? I believe to have removed absolutely all vestiges of macros. If I'm wrong, I'm eager to know, so I can find how to go further.

That's odd, I don't want to sound silly, but did you pull the spreadsheet named MasterWordNoMacro? If you did, then I've really got to scratch my head. In "read only" mode, are you able to enter data? That's all that's needed. As an aside, I really like your smiley with the eyebrows; I can move my eyebrows like that.

Glad you like it! Actually, the with-macros spreadsheet also is codebox-and-columns friendly.

Gmaster, if my spreadsheet isn't working for you, please let me know (See "Tools By CaptainEd" in my sig for a good place to post). If you can't use it because of macros, there's a new version that doesn't use macros. In either case, it lays the answers out in columns, so it doesn't make such a big footprint.

The apologies are all mine. Try again, I now have posted "...Rev3", which has even more totally removed the macros, I think.

This is the latest and greatest: New! wordmatch for OpenOffice! AND the ones labelled NoMacro no longer are carrying their vestigial macros, so you should have no problems with Excel or firewalls complaining about yucky macros. Slight improvement: wordmatchNoMacroRev2 replaces wordmatchNoMacro, which still had the macros, even though it didn't use them. Rev2 does not need and does not contain the macros. Use it in good health anywhere that doesn't support macros.

Ooops, that was sloppy of me. It doesn't use the macros (but it still has them--oops). I'll fix that. Main thing is, it doesn't use the macros, so as long as they'll let you use the spreadsheet, you'll be ok. edit: OK, here's the latest, called MasterWordCounterNoMacroRev2--it needs no macros and it HAS no macros.

I'm sure flummoxed. Once again, I love the clues you guys are giving. Notice that AI didn't do the natural "I like GASHES...". Probably he likes GASH but doesn't like GASHES. But what does that tell me? nothing yet...

Hi Palmer, now I see what you're saying; sometimes it takes me a while to catch up. Good news for spreadsheet users is that now there's a masterword spreadsheet that works on Open Office, because it uses NO macros.

Yup, I just got in. Using the words down through seagull, all hypotheses show contradictions. Hope my spreadsheet isn't giving him problems (it's not the latest--Rev3 or Rev4, or the formatting wouldn't be so long). As a matter of fact, even the suggestion that these words should be sufficient doesn't work, as even these words alone show contradictions: unknown: o squeals: xxxoo squalls: xxxo seawall: xoooo wrassle: xoooo squared: xoooo seagull: xooooo

The taller person of the two won the rice by leaning forward and breaking the plane of the finish line first--they had movie cameras in the late 19th century, a photo finish could show that unequivocally. I don't see how April 1 fits in, though...so I'm expecting to be hoodwinked.

I'm with Plasmid--there are two answers, P and Q. There are only 4 distinguishable sequences of answers, no matter what the questions: PPP, PPQ, PQP, PQQ, and 6 cases to distinguish. If I weren't so awash with coin-weighing, I would think that we can't distinguish 6 cases with only 4 sequences of answers. Sure wish I could prove it (or brilliantly get the answer!) -

I have another question about the premise. "Because of possible loop conflicts, you may not ask any question about how the God of the Randomcants would answer." Does this mean: (a) you may not ask anybody "How would R answer...? or (b) you may not ask anybody "How would B answer", given that B might be R. -

I'm having a fundamental problem with the premise of R: Let's just look at one question--the gods are A, B, and C. Never mind that I don't know what the answers mean, I just want to know how they would answer in their native tongue. Ask A if B is H. If A is H, answer is No (because B is not H) If A is S If B is H, answer is No, because B is H If B is R, answer is Yes, because B is not H If A is R, We don’t know what H would say, if B is H, because A couldn’t be H. Since I can't tell what A would say if B were H, I can't tell whether one and only one god would say Yes. So, I don’t know what R would say. Please help explicate the premise! -
