  1. Pet Rock 10:09--two Nopes.
  2. Knobber has gobbled it up! #1 is now toast, in a manner of speaking. Now all that remains is #4. Rene83 is closer than anyone, start with her answer and chew on it...
  3. Rock and NonExistentOne: For #1: If you explain "I belong at a modern table", you'll find the answer more satisfying.
  4. Pet Rock: Yes, yes, yes, only close By the way, can you explain your (totally correct) answer to #1 (in a spoiler)? Nobody else has...
  5. Rock and all interested diners, The clue to #4 has several components that all contribute to understanding the answer: "Crush", "first", "second" and "shared middle".
  6. Pet Rock, you and I have to go spend a long time in a Greek restaurant, don't we? Sigh, your answer is incorrect. But it brings up marvelous memories...
  7. Rock: nope. still rolling, eh? IDoNotExist: But you think! Cogito ergo non sum, an idea whose time has come. Unlike the little man upon the stair, I do hope you don't go away. Your answer to 1) is correct. When you can explain the entire clue for #1, you'll drop the "perhaps".
  8. My Pet, I'm still here; your answers (excellently cloaked in spoilers, thanks!) are still a stone's throw away. Grayven, your "pulp" is pure fiction. (to be clear, that would be a "no")

To all solvers, Good news: these numbers are spread all over the space of ordinals of the English alphabet, so they could denote letters! Bad news: the letters are: V, F, E, B, X, C, J, I, H Aside from the possibility of these being the first letters of a limerick about VeebleFetzers, I'm clueless. (But NOT asking for a hint, please don't disturb the Avalanche...)
  10. Grayven, you did succeed in guessing wrong; I'm glad you're enjoying yourself, would you like seconds? To all: Here's the scorecard so far 1) pickett's item might taste similar, but he's missing several nuggets 2) several people have got it 3) ditto 4) rene is THIS CLOSE, but nobody has explained all the parts Keep 'em coming, would you like some more coffee, Hon?
  11. Note to Pet Rock Remember to put your answer in a spoiler, so other folks can try to solve themselves.
  12. Pet Rock, Your 3 rocks! your others just rolled away.
  13. Pickett has hit a wall: 1) your answer is somewhat closer than your rationale 4) Nope, rene is closer than she knows, but also doesn't see the rationale
  14. Grayven, while I bow to your image, your guess isn't as good as mine.
  15. Rene83: No, Yes, Yes, Close Nikk29: I see you gave me an F! Your excellent attempt fares no better :-(
  16. Pickett's charge: two down, two to go!

The first line could be , but I don't see how they relate to the rest of the clue. Fascinating!
  18. I hope these please your mind or your mouth: (1) Flaky as I am, I belong at a modern table, surrounding my sweetheart (2) Ate loam? Scrambling improves me. (3) Pope or a poacher? 'Tween England and Holland? Good answer (no beggin'): Well said. (4) Crush my first to get my second; they shared a middle anyway.

    Here's a guess

Yes, Y can represent two different numbers. It represents one number above the line (that is, in the number BEAUTY), and a different number below the line (that is, in the number DISNEY). Furthermore, the two values are different by 1. (These are the OP's explanations. So, Y + T = Y does not imply that T = 0. In fact, it implies that T = 1 or T = 9.
