I think there's an old Mafia Discussion thread somewhere...but I'm too lazy to go dig it up...so I'm just going to start talking here.
Yeah, it sucks to die (yes, I mean in mafia...although it's probably not that fun in RL, either XP)...I had this idea for a game setup that allows player's role actions to live on even after they die:
GAMBIT MAFIAInstead of sending in a Night action each Night, a player sends in a list of actions for as many Nights as they think the game will last (or Day actions if there are Day actions). For example, if you are a save, your list could be:
N1: Save self
N2: Save Player A
N3: Save Player B
N4: Save Player C
N5: Save Player A
...
And so on and so forth. The actions can be conditional, based on information that is publicly revealed in the OP or the Night/Day Posts or to your role
previous to the Night/Day the gambit is for. Examples:
N1: Save self
N2: Save Player A, if Player A is dead, Save Player B. If Player A and B are dead, save Player C...
...etc. Or, if you are, say, a kill:
N1: No action.
N2: If one player is blocked on N1 and there is no mafia Night kill, kill that player...
A gambit must lead to a
specific action on a
specific target, or it will be disregarded. I.e. if two players were blocked, you can't say "kill one of them". You could say something like "If multiple players are blocked, kill the one that appears first on the roster," since the roster is public information. You
cannot base your gambits on actions/posts of the host, i.e. you cannot say "If multiple players are blocked, kill the one that appears first in the Night Post", and you cannot base your gambits on claims/subjective judgments made by other players.
At any time
while alive, the player may PM a new/revised gambit to the host. The most recent gambit received prior to the Day/Night deadline it is affecting will be the one enacted. Once dead, a player cannot change or cancel their gambits. (So be careful, or your actions
will come back to haunt you

)
Tell me what you think and whether there'd be interest in trying this. I haven't even started deciding what roles to put in yet.
