(255 in decimal, i think) And the primary use of hexadecimal notation is a human-friendly representation of binary-coded values in computing and digital electronics. The sample of "FF" was actually hexadecimal for 15 15. And in binary that's 1111 1111 - exactly the pattern you would get if I swiped the paper with both sets of forepaw claws.
