0 Guest
Glaciers let me explain... Where eagles soar I stay no more (the glaciers were huge LONG time ago...so the ice/water would be higher in the air, but now its in the ocean so its not as high) I rest among the stars.(stars/sun heats them up; they "rest"/melt and are no longer the glaciers they once were) While once I swore, Not now, no more. My life is told in scars. (scars= rivers/streams/canyons/mountains the glaciers cut into the earth while moving over time) When patch-eyed men (sailors/pirates) Come 'round again Their lives are in my hand. (now the glaciers are melted and its the ocean) I'll stand up strong, Release the throng-- (had to look up that word; could be like an armaggedon type situation; maybe the next ice age where the glaciers make their re-appearance)What's blue I do command. 0 Molly Mae
None so far, but ocean was the right idea, although that might be a bit misleading. Thanks PG. And tmo, I enjoyed your explanation. It's not what I had in mind, though.

0 plainglazed
Callisto I like this answer. Was thinking less specific sirens? they are often depicted with wings but soar no more - dont know but got to think there is some association with some celestial body - lure sailers/rule the seas - not sure about releasing the throngs bit another passing thought - mermaid? 0 Molly Mae
We've gotten a little close, but not it yet. I've begun a new stanza. Look for it sometime today.
0 Molly Mae
Added this first verse. Also, changed the dominant pronoun from "I" to "he" because it bothered me. I'm thinking about writing yet another verse, as well. =P Enjoy. Of eight score men He's one of them. And further, one of six. While still alive 'Til forty-five He holds this known prefix. Where eagles soar He stays no more He rests among the stars. While once he swore, Not now, no more. His life is told in scars. When patch-eyed men Come 'round again Their lives are in his hand. He'll stand up strong, Release the throng-- What's blue he does command. EDIT: Changed Until to 'Til for good measure (pun intended). Question
Molly Mae
Where eagles soar
I stay no more
I rest among the stars.
While once I swore,
Not now, no more.
My life is told in scars.
When patch-eyed men
Come 'round again
Their lives are in my hand.
I'll stand up strong,
Release the throng--
What's blue I do command.
