GOODIES WIN (Indy was lynched, Baddies conceded defeat). Thank you all for playing! You were very active in this game, and that’s the best gift a host can ever get. This game was tremendously fun to host, even if it went on an unexpected, low-chance path (as considered by the designers). But this only proves that Mafia is not a host-driven story, it is a game - the story and outcome is shaped by players. We’ve enjoyed reading your posts and BTSC comments and popcorn-ed a lot about your actions. Now, for the usual end of game spoilers ... Roles (RD order) Actions (in order of OOA):

Day 4 The Lead Writer sits quietly in front of the Director's desk as the Director flips through the latest story board drawings. The Director pulls out three boards and places them upside down on the desk, setting the rest off to the side. Looking up at the lead Writer he slowly turns over the three drawings of Duck Dodger's engagement with Taz. Director: What part of no Taz did you not understand? Writer: What uncle? Director: Don't uncle me! What part of no Taz didn't your small brain not understand?! Writer: <squeeks> I have no idea why the Animator made those. The Director pulls out the parcel envelope with the golf score sheet inside, flicking the paper across the desk. He then pulls out a napkin with writing on it while the scowl on his face deepens. Writer: I didn't... Director: SILENCE! Writer: but... Director: You good for nothing... I do not care if you are my sister's whelp. You incompetent fool! You are fired. SECURITY! Escort this moron out. Head down in shame the former Lead Writer is lead to the exit between two neckless security guards. As he passes his desk he makes a grab for the coffee mug and cradles it in his arms as he leaves the building. ----- Back in the Director's office, he calls his secretary to send the Lead Animator in. Director: The stories are crap but you did good work with the little that you were provided. We'll need to work hard but we have time to rework this. Perhaps we could... As the Director keeps talking a small smile creeps onto the Animator's face as he drinks from a coffee mug with the barcode sticker still on the bottom. ----- Back to his office, the Lead Animator’s mind was clouded with mixed emotions. As his hand moved flawlessly along the page, his thoughts ran over all the events that preceded this. The Lead Writer getting fired was just the cherry on top. As interim Writer, with minimal guidance from the Director, he was now able to shape the story as he had always wanted. Even if it meant the last death of some of his favorite trouble-maker. Even if it meant other changes may come. At last, he had a story he could draw with his mind closed and heart open. ----- (Script for Final Act) [Taz wakes up to find Bugs looking over him with big eyes and a sad expression on his face. Zoom out to Taz’s face as he blinks without making a sound, staring back at Bugs. A smile begins on Taz’s face as he opens his mouth and waters his lips.] [Pan out. Foghorn Leghorn stares at Taz from right behind Bugs and pushes Bugs out of the way as Taz’s mouth closes with a snap on empty air.] Foghorn: What're you d... I say, what're you doin' with that redirect, tryin’ to trick us all? You're crazy boy! There's no trust in this game! Uh-uh-uh, I know what you're gonna say, son. When two halves is gone, there's nothin' left. And you're right, two nothin's is nothin'. That's mathematics, son! You can argue with me, but you can't argue with figures! [Taz stares incredulously. Looks at Foghorn. Looks down. Back at Foghorn. Utterly confused. Then his expression changes to an angry look.] Foghorn: Stand up, son. You're fallin' all over yourself. [Taz jumps to his feet. Tornado moment.] Taz: Why you say you no bunny rabbit when you have little powder-puff tail? [Foghorn looks at his tail, then back at Taz] Foghorn: What's the gag - I say, what's the gag, son? Gag, that is. [Taz walks towards Foghorn, but stumbles from a trap left by Duck Dodgers. Medallion showing Duck laying the trap the night before.] Foghorn: Oh, you're down again. You gotta learn to stand on your own feet, boy. I may not always be around to help ya. [Foghorn walks away] [Pan out. Road Runner has been watching the two with a curious expression on his face. As Taz begins to walk towards him, Road Runner shrugs.] Road Runner: Beep! Beep! [Road Runner runs away in a cloud of smoke. Taz looks sad] ----- [Pan out above Taz’s head. Zoom in to see Michigan J. Frog speaking while Tweety and Duck Dodgers nod from time to time. Close in as Frog says: ] Michigan J. Frog: [singing] Hello, my darling / hello, my darling / hello, my Taz. / Send me a RID by wire / baby, my hearts on fire / if you refuse me / honey, you'll lose me / then you'll be left alone. [Tweety and Duck Dodgers exchange a glance, try to intervene but then fall back. Duck scratches his head then suddently realizes something and a smile flashes on his face] [Run camera with Duck as he brings a net and an overly complicated mechanism with gears / levers and a big net with a lot of weights distributed evenly. Frog nods appreciatively. They all push the lever and throw the net down at Taz. Taz is caught by surprise and struggles to get out. ] Taz: Huh? Back-stab ... No good ... Taz mad now. [As Taz tries furiously to escape the net, a box falls on him and is quickly closed from all sides. A hand labels it ‘Australia’. Another one labels it ‘Don’t open’. Then a third hand adds ‘Seriously, don’t open this!’] [As the box is lifted and loaded into a truck, close in to the three on top] Michigan J. Frog: [singing a different tune this time] Everybody do the Michigan Rag / everybody likes the Michigan Rag / slide, ride, glide the Michigan / stomp, romp, pomp the Michigan / jump, clump, pump the Michigan Rag / that lovin' rag. ----- [Pan out. Not so far away, Sylvester and Wile E Coyote half-hidden behind what’s left of an old Western set. Sylvester still tries to rearrange his whiskers. Some of them are missing. Wile’s eyes are red from lack of sleep.] Sylvester (at Taz): Well, I told ya where you're gonna be, if you kept doing that. Now that you’re gone, we can finally get into the open and get the P-P-prize .. [Wile hits Sylvester on the head and Sylvester tries to regain balance.] Sylvester: Ow! Why you little... I'll... Wile E. Coyote: Focus. I’ve told you. They know our faces. Now that revenge was played out, we must flee town lest they catch us. [Wile’s eyes go up as his mouth waters. Small medallion showing the Road runner then Wile sharpening his knife.] Wile E. Coyote: Perhaps go to the Grand Canyon. There should be a Road Runner around there somewhere. [sylvester nods] Sylvester: All right! I'll do it. I'd rather starve to death than die here! But, why a Road Runner of all the birds? Wile E. Coyote: A legitimate question, young man, deserving a legitimate answer. Now then, I can easily understand why it should puzzle you that a person of my intelligence, I.Q. 207 super genius, should devote his valuable time chasing a ridiculous road runner ... Day 3 The Lead Animator searched for an hour till he found the pair of tweezers he was looking for. He used them to open the napkin the courier had brought him. Typical. That no-good Writer had managed to produce another masterpiece. Five lines no less. The animator quietly pondered if the writer actually earned more per word than him per month. Back in the days, writing did not pay that handsomely. Maybe he could jump to writing, he had some friends that were pretty advanced ... But then again, no. Being someone's nephew is not exactly a skill that can be learned. So back to creating something from nothing. He looked around at the set to draw his inspiration. He saw a pair poking each other and decided to start with that. Keeping it simple. Work your way through. First Henery, then Sylvester, then Wile, build a crescendo, throw Tweety in, cut back to Wile again, and then finish with the carrots. The last part was heavily improvised, since there was little to show without Elmer around. Sigh. Stupid budget cuts. Will need to get Bugs portrayed as a grayer character. Perhaps this was even a good move, more realistic. Though Bugs' agent will probably go nuts when he hears about it. But the napkin held enough evidence to force his hand if needed. Director's nephew and all. The Big not to mention Leading Writer said so. He chuckled to himself and kept drawing. By midday he felt a break was deserved, left his work and went out on a buying spree. And as alway, he found just the perfect coffee mug to bring his inspiration back. On his way back, he enjoyed his Latte in the cornershop, still dazzled with the eyes of the coffee-girl. Blue or green, he kept forgetting the color right after he left the store. But while in there. Hmm, romance. Years don't quite drown it. Late afternoon he did the final replay, before submitting his work. He made small changes, here and there, nothing important. Then he thought about the coffee girl and changed a few of the colors to match her eyes. Yes, that will do. As for the other change the management had secretly asked of him ... it saddened him to see a character named after a dear friend animator go, but ... Henery was just a would-be star that never quite made it. Hypothetical scenario needs rewriting to be answered ... So, I'm just gonna go ahead and assume from the rest of the talk in the thread that you're actually asking: "If Taz scores his 3rd redirect towards his WinCon in Night X and the last baddie is lynched in Day X, does that count as a tie Goodie-Indy win?" Answer is yes. Because in that scenario, at the end of Day X, the baddies have been eliminated (hence the Goodies win) and the Indy has survived a lynch after his 3rd redirect was scored (hence the Indy wins).

Day 2 The Lead Animator carefully unpacked his new coffee mug and placed it on the desk. He moved it around a bit, trying to find a good spot where it's both within reach and easier to hide if the Writer had come to visit him. That was the 6th coffee mug he had bought. Why couldn't the Writer get his own? He read the smaller Act 2 script and sighed. Drawing that would be a piece of cake, a walk in the park. He could even let one of his assistants take care of it. But where would the suspense be? Not to mention the fact that all the assistant animators had been sacked a while ago. *sigh* This was broken in so many places. Unclear timeline, unclear motivations. Time to fill in the spots. He looked around over the set to draw his inspiration. They were still going around, running in circles, so much energy to draw on. He paused right as his tired eyes had lost track of the picture. As he turned around to his desk, he heard a big loud noise. A quick glance and he saw the big wooden pillars of the previously balanced set trembling. He had been positive that would happen one day. Both the chief of the security and that lazy architect the company had brought over said it will resist a thousand years. Of course. IF no one would be actually using it. And they hadn't met Taz and the level of destruction he brought with him. Deep sigh. Nothing to do now. Back to drawing. And could someone please stop those police and fire-sirens? He opened a drawer and took out the iPod his daughter had brought him. Clever piece of technology, and most appreciated in a day with so many distractions. The Animator put his earpieces on and started making stories true. Late afternoon, as he replayed the scenes in his mind, he made a couple of small adjustments, then nodded to himself. Any single extra word would have cleared something about a secret ability which may or may not interfere with lynching. Making that secret, less of a secret. Which is a no-no for hosts. Hence, no (further) comments. Except for meta-comments explaining the no-comment situation.

I really don't understand what you don't understand about a secret ability part and the NO COMMENT hosts usually employ when dealing with roles with secret abilities. If there were a secret ability dealing with lynching the Indy, the answer would be the same. If there were not a secret ability dealing with lynching the Indy, the answer would be the same. Secret Ability = NO COMMENT from hosts on any scenario. EDIT: Or more accurately: SAME COMMENT on all scenarios.

Day 1 The Lead Animator put his glasses on and read the act 1 script the boy just delivered to him. He sighed deeply, nodded and put the paper away, next to his coffee mug the Writer always stole from him in the rare occasions he paid him a visit in person. Director's nephew and all. *sigh* He massaged his temples and stared into the distance, then removed his glasses. As usual, when something new was stirred up by management, it was up to him to fill the empty spaces with art. Or to break the news to the characters. He looked at them in the distance, still playing with their gadgets and toys, running around, enjoying their animated life. Oblivious to the real world. Oblivious of the different shades of gray that came with each decision, deciding which frames are in and which are out. Decisions, decisions. Where art thou, art? He took yet another pill from the almost-empty bottle and coughed. It took him a while to find a few fresh white pages and to recover his favorite pencil from behind the desk. Only then he began the painful process of making sense of the script. As he read through it, expanding the setting, provind background stories, pulling references viewers might appreciate, he heard the voices getting louder and louder. He went to the window and looked at the huge set where the characters lived. He could almost taste a trouble-bringing wind in the air. An omen of much more than the usual rivalries and pranks. He watched them following each other tirelessly, complaining over any insignificant little detail the caretakers missed, ready to fight over any perceived threat or territory infringement. He went back and flipped his pages to see what he had previously drawn. It almost broke his heart when he had to make them mortal. The animated world has always been his refuge. The place where death is banished from. Where a new turn of the page would uncover a new story. A neverending universe, with no beginning and no end. Hard to explain how all of this has changed. How trivial things like ratings, market share, focus-group results, budget cuts had tainted it, burned holes in its perfection. A small tear followed the wrinkled face, finally landing on the pages.
