Again, you are leaving out those that are not able to pay. Those that want the service, but because it isn't EVERYONE (as with taxation) they can't afford it. Those in poverty. That is what mandatory taxes are for.

Glad you see the one thing that begins anarchies downfall. If this (and greed) weren't true, the anarchy system would work. But since it is, a government is needed that The war thing: I have an idea for that. If a government wants to go to war over something that is not a direct attack on their country, it must be put up to a direct vote, and the public must be informed of exactly what they're going to war for. This is the only time I agree with direct democracy and non-big government, because I've seen and learned about many recent instances of wars that were big 'mistakes (Such as Vietnam, Iraq, Korea).' That's my idea. EDIT: Yes, I know there are freeloaders. I just don't think everyone should suffer because of a small minority.

I see what you mean. I really do think that it's because people are greedy (for Obesity) or because they are sick (anorexia and bulimia are diseases. They can't control it.)

Well, from what I've heard, they measured many different rocks and came up with 4.5 bil. years. If what you linked to is true, explain the age of dinosaur bones? I'm pretty sure they date carbon with those, thus no helium (I could be wrong, of course)

While I do not think that it is fair to mark a baby like that, no, I would not agree. You see, my main concern is this: I am not happy with the fact that much of your life is determined by luck (you can't disagree with that). I believe that (ignoring the lotto) there should only be a couple of times that luck should play a role: 1. Being born with kind, loving parents 2. Being born able to work 3. Being born with or developing the mindset to work harder and get what you deserve. Luck should not play a role in your financial situation, which is why I am for a progressive tax. Really, there are two types of people who I want eradicated: 1. Freeloaders 2. Kids born into rich families who, by choice, never work in their life. (If they continue to work, I have no problem, because they have proven that they deserve what they have). I believe in giving people a chance to prove that they deserve good in life, which is why I disagree with communism, which doesn't allow individuals to shine. That's what my policies are based off of.

UtF: Say that baby was the son of a rich man. He could easily pay the 1 billion without help. Does it seem right to you that just because that baby was lucky enough to have a rich father that it would survive, as opposed to the poor one, who is going under this scrutiny? Does the other baby have more potential because of it's father???? And by the way: US pop. = 400 million. That equals $2.50 per person on a non-progressive tax. Think about it.

UtF: I do. They may not realize what they are doing at the time. Also, I'm sorry, but 1 BILLION is too much, although I don't think it would ever cost that much. But I must ask you: Would you save someone like Bill Gates if the procedure was 1 trillion dollars? (I know it's too high, I'm just wondering) My estimate would be a couple mil. And poor people do pay taxes as dawh says. And by the way, I have nothing against you or the rich. My thought is this: Why shouldn't the one's who can help the most help those who deserve to be helped, the hard working poor so down on their luck that they'll never be able to break out of poverty and have to watch as their children attempt to as well? What do YOU have against the honest, working poor? (I hate free riders too, so...)

UtF: dawh said everything I was thinking on your posts. About the health care: My idea is that you would have had to have tried to get a job in order to be able to get anything. Any company you apply for must send proof of your attempt to the government, and you must apply to at least 3 places a month (or have a job of course) to be qualified. I agree that we have to eliminate the free riders.

I've used IE, Firefox, and Chrome (as well as one run through with safari but it doesn't really count) and to me Chrome is the best. I am not one for add-ons, and the homepage (which you can customize) is awesome. Just wondering: what would go under other?

UtF: Your pond example is COMPLETELY different. No, I wouldn't force people to pay for a damn pond. But the baby is a HUMAN. This is a life we're talking about, not a freakin' koi pond. Who's to say he will? What if he decides that it's his money? It's a similar argument. Just as you say that he or another rich person should give money for health care because it will never be 'payed back,' why should he feel that he has to pay people to buy his product? What if he decides that it isn't worth the risk? What if he decides that he doesn't trust those people, because he doesn't think they'll end up buying his stuff? See, I think that we're looking at humans differently. To me, it seems as though you believe that humans are naturally good, and able to tell 'good investments' from bad ones, and able to decide what is worth their money, while I, and maybe Izzy, Dawh, etc., think the opposite. If you diagree with my conclusion, please let me know.
