Slick, Since you've said Grayven's proposed rule is wrong, and t8^3's rule is wrong, it is most cool if you give a counterexample for each. For example, give us (for Grayven's rule) either a word with c or g that you don't like OR a word without c or g that you do like (for t8..'s rule) either a word with c or g followed by a vowel that you don't like or a word with c or g followed by a consonant that you do like (in fact, you've done this, with "peaches") Apparently, this is a pretty simple rule that still gives us quite a challenge, so that's great. Please help us out by some directed counterexamples! (You've given us a challenge, now you get a challenge as well!)

GMaster7, you aren't using ...NoMacroRev4, which fixes the bug you're experiencing. Look in post #35. It works for me.

Sorry gang! I know how frustrating it can be to have wrong answers. Thanks for the alert. There were two problems: (1) I didn't lowercase all inputs (so B and b might not match) (2) If a query had multiple instances of a letter, and the first one of those matched in exact location, the query would receive a longer answer (more o's) than it deserved. These are now fixed in this release:

Somehow, this was a very helpful hint! I think I've got it! I bet you like FASTING but not EATING I bet you like ZYZYGY but not CONJUNCTION I bet you like BANANA but not PLANTAIN I bet you like POMPANO but not SWORDFISH If so, that is a COOL RULE! It shows that even simple rules are a bear to figure out. (And, as always, I love the answers you came up with. As you say, it isn't easy to come up with an answer to go with a query. These puzzles are a workout for both solver and maker.

What a relief! OK, this is good to know. I think we just have to live with this--I don't know why Excel or Open Excel thinks there are still macros, but Grayven's solution does the trick--go to Security | Macros, and get rid of Readonly mode by making it "Always ask before opening". Now, there are three spreadsheets, each in Macros and NoMacros forms. Have fun!

Personally, I don't see the problem. This one was difficult for me because, when I cut and pasted the results into my helper spreadsheet, I deleted too many characters, and accidentally knocked off the final E in INTRIGUE, resulting in contradictions in all hypotheses. That combined with the doubling of the Rs caused me a lot of heartache ("did I give Grayven a broken spreadsheet?") until I saw my typo. The repeated letters add to the logic challenge; as Martha says, it's a good thing!

Good Morning all! Have you read your daily grimoire yet? (I hadn't either, I've seen the word, but never knew what it meant until I had to guess it for this masterword.) Unfortunately, I won't be able to host due to time constraints, so...if this turns out to be right, somebody please have at it!

My first attempt at a tiny Enigmatic Crossword, using the no-macro tool (which I'll upload once I have enough space). For the unfamiliar, a Yoruichi-san Enigmatic Crossword has words (primarily English) formed exclusively of atomic symbols (e.g. H, He, Li...). That is, each cell of the crossword contains exactly one atomic symbol.
