Gold Bar on a Bus

Can anyone help me with this?

A man is give a gold bar to take to the bank. He can only travel by bus, but the gold bar is too large for the bus. How does he get it to the bank?

That's how the puzzle was worded to me. There was no information about the size of the gold bar or the size of the bus. No numbers at all. Just the line above.

Any help - especially an answer - is appreciated.

Somehow, the notion of "Au to bus" jumps to mind, but I don't see it supporting an answer.

This is the most reasonable answer.

The man will strap the gold bar to the top of the bus, and will take it to the bank. Once he reaches the bank, then he gets the gold bar off the bus and gives it to the bank.

True, it's reasonable. But could it be said that the bar was too large for the bus?

@Mortie, did it say too large to "fit inside" the bus, specifically?

Hi Binanova...they just used the phrase "too large for the bus." There wasn't a reference to fitting inside the bus specifically.

Ask the bank's guard to take the gold bar for you, then you can go to the bank by bus.

    or ask someone else to take the gold bar for you, then you can go to the bank by bus. They can bring the gold bar by other vehicle.

How would the man even get the gold bar to the bus, if he can only travel (with the gold bar) by bus?

A. There is no need of the bus. If the gold bar can be transferred from person to person, as given by "(a) man is give (sic) a gold bar to take to the bank," then he can get the gold bar to the bank by having a queue of people lined from where he receives the gold bar and the bank, thus it can be transferred in the manner of 'passing the water bucket from the well to the fire'. The queue can be made of two people - one other and himself, with each transfer the one who passed of the gold bar walks ahead to a position closer to the bank to receive it, and pass it on.

could maybe melt down the gold into a more compact size that will fit on the bus..(doesn't specify why it don't fit, maybe its a really long bar)

Maybe when it says," ...too large for the bus," it means that it will exceed the weight limit of the bus.

If that is the case, then it will be impossible to put the gold bar inside, because the bus would not handle it.

To be able to bring the gold bar to the bank, you need to cut the gold bar in half. You put one half on one bus, and the other on the other bus. You put yourself in the first bus. Both buses will go to the bank. When you reach the bank, you get out with half of the bar. Then, when the other bus comes, you pick up the half of the gold bar. Now, you have the total gold bar to give to the bank (Even though it's in half).

You probably also need some equipment for when you go from the bus to the doors of the bank, but we won't need those details for now.
