The A/P/P/E have been ruled out through dAPPle and cyclEs. So the only letter left from SCROTA which would not be ruled out is the S. SPELLS - If (1) then second letter is T, because S/A already proven and the only letter not present in STELLA is the P. So in order to drop from (3) > (1) then the T had to have been correct in STELLA, as the S and A are already in place. ST???A If (2) then the 3rd letter is E because the S is already proven and the only letter from STELLA (3) which is not already ruled out (the LLA) is the E which is in the same spot on both words.
