Guest
DELETE = 2 E is not 2nd - REBUTS = 0 L is not 3rd - DELATE = DEBATE E is not 4th - DELATE = DELETE E is 5th T is not 6th - REBUTS = 0 so D is 1st or E is 7th REBATE if 1 then D is not 1st as REBATE = DEBATE, so E is 7th if 0 then D is 1st as D - > R would be only change from DEBATE =

Guest
Well I am pretty sure that E is the 5th letter but I am failing at proving the logic behind it at the minute This probably wouldn't be accepted because it is a little vague but; The only letter that TEEPEE, CLOSER and WALLET share is the E at the 5th spot. So it almost definitly has to be there but I can't prove why it can not be there. I am just going to be quiet now - my attempt at analysis is digging me into a whole Edited May 31, 2011 by mEEster-Michael

Guest
Couldn't edit my earlier post, hence it still says whole and not hole :/ haha I meant to guess TURNER but forgot. If 3 are correct then I would say that T is first because of TEEPEE having 2 correct, so T in first place. The E would be 5th because of WALLET, TEEPEE and CLOSER all having an E there, and then because CLOSER also has 2 correct I would take the R from that as being the 6th letter because....(INSERT LOGIC HERE).... and that is why I have guessed TURNER! hehe Edited May 31, 2011 by mEEster-Michael
Yodell
CLOSET - if 1 then ?????R is proven - only diff from CLOSER-2 - if 3 then ?????T is proven - same reason
TheCube
?????? TEEPEE - 2 EASELS - 0 SCHIST - 0 CLOSER - 2 WALLET - 1 LETTER - 1 TURNER - 1 CLOSET - 1 The E logic was still a bit vague because there could be other letters that could not be similar and yet have the score 1 or more. benjer3
According to Yodell's logic, _ _ _ _ _ R is proven. Because TURNER = LETTER = 1, _ _ EP _ _ is proven from TEEPEE = 2, as they are the only remaining letters that can score. Guest
As Yodell's and benjer3's logic is sound above and thus ??EP?R proven lettEr=1 (for R) and eAsels=0 means only the W of wallet remains to score so actually W?EP?R is now proven, so... ...hmm don't have any words that fit and neither does onelook.com

Guest
WALLOP ? If WALLOP=0 then ????E? is proven. CLOSER=CLOSET=2 means that neither R nor T can be the last letter. WALLET=1 and so WALLE_=1 since the T can't score WALL__ is common and WALLOP=0 so ____E_=
