0 Guest
A roasted chicken. The chicken get it's head lopped off with an axe then it runs around for a bit while blood drips all over the place. after plucking the ruffled feathers off of it's carcass the chef shoves it into the metal roasting pan and it's blood thickens from the heat of the oven. After it's done people consume the delicious dish without any thought about the suffering of the headless fowl.

0 DudleyDude
not sure about the "breaking formation" but it could refer to the cheese starting out solid and then melting (and running down a bit) before either browning on top or mixing into the rest of the dish. Lasagna?

Lasagna? With that guess, Dudley defeats this riddle ruffled garb = the characteristic lasagna noodle armor = the pan to be baked in horde falling to the sword = chopped vegetables carcasses = well, carcasses : P beef or saussage or roadkill or whatever bloody rain = tomato sauce "the rest" = cheese melting and then re-setting Though there were certainly a number of quite good alternate answers
Question
plasmid
With ruffled garb I stood adorned
Preparing to suit up in armor
Alert the troops we've been forewarned
It's time now to earn yourselves honor
My cherished horde could not advance
All fell to the sword by the score
Not one among them stood a chance
I'm grateful we didn't send more
I've never witnessed carnage such
With carcasses flung all around
The bloody rain streamed down so much
So fast that I feared I would drown
The rest would not formation keep
They ran just as far as they could
But now they evermore shall sleep
It did them all quite little good
In battle thus I had been spurned
The odds of a victory zero
Perplexing though, I then returned
To greetings befit for a hero
