So now's the time for a logick, right? ?E??? must be the logical answer here. Reply & Helix only had "E" in common, and however both had one correct letter, and therefore E must be obvious here.

Not quite. =P For example, a fictitious word could score the same as REPLY and HELIX if the word to be guessed was "???LX"
