  1. You are a hovercraft racer, driving on a strip of water. Your opponent starts at the opposite end of the strip. His starting line is your finish line, and vice versa. Vroom, vroom! You both start up your hover-engines, feeling the throttle growling with intense power. Then the coordinator drops a flag and you both race toward each other like lightning over the water... your fans torquing up the water underneath you as you go. You have no intention of stopping. Then, when it becomes clear that the other person has no intention of stopping either, both players have a choice... Keep going? Or submerge? (you PM me your choice) If both keep going, the hovercrafts crash in the middle with a jarring stop, no doubt damaging the vehicles and their bodies. Both players involved in the crash get -1 points. If one player keeps going and the other submerges, the player that kept going zooms over the submerged player to the finish line, while the submerged player (even if he ascends right after that) has wasted too much time and loses the race. The winner gets +2 points, the loser gets nothing. If both players submerge, they see that happen and will both try to ascend as quickly as possible to get the advantage. It is a random 50/50 chance, and whoever gets to the surface quicker zips to the finish line for only 1 point (as they didn't win by enough distance) with the loser getting nothing. Everyone starts with 8 points. You will play 4 rounds against the same person before switching to a new opponent. If someone hits 0 points, they're out. There are two ways to win: (1) be the last hovercraft standing, or the more likely option (2) be the first to get to 20 points Start joining, people I'm looking for ~5 people to conduct the experiment with, though I might accept more ;D 1) 2) 3) 4) 5)

  3. about the Janitor, I think the Janitor should NOT know what they're doing- btw Slick I like "impersonation" idea, I'm adding that: * Janitor - the Janitor, after his/her many years of watching and learning, has adopted many vital skills. Each night, I roll a 6-sided dice to determine the action of the Janitor (saving, killing, guarding [1/2 kill attacker, 1/2 die for the charge], discovering specific role, impersonating, or cleaning [ie, nothing]). The Janitor picks a person other than themself and then they find out what the action was at the night post so we got 1) saving 2) killing 3) guarding 4) discovering 5) impersonating 6) cleaning I like the fact that the Janitor doesn't know what action he/she is performing. It adds a bit of predictability without making it useless- ie, the Janitor can be 5/6 sure it's not killling someone... but there's also only a 1/3 chance that they'll actually save someone if they use it on a possibly baddie... it's good numbers. I like it.
  4. also me and BB have come up with a way to stop discovery of Mafiosos by watching for PM activity or "whose online" or anything like that- I've made an external forum (with the Mafia and QA forums hidden from each other) for bad guys to chat instead of PMs

  6. hmmm I was thinking not all the abilities, and not specifically attributed ones- just nameless abilities. The Janitor picks a person and then (unless a 6 is rolled) they find out what the action was at the night post though the card deck thing is interesting, I'm not sure I like it. I'm trying to go for balance and simplicity at the same time ;D

  8. okay I've changed the rules to Janitor one thing remains: should the Janitor pick the target before I tell him/her what the action is? so far for the action list I have: saving, killing, guarding, discovering, though i'll add more

  11. hmm... yeah no Ghost, but the Medium is interesting... I don't think that communication with dead players is a good idea at all though, or anything related to dead players right now, I'm looking at the Copycat/Emulator/Mimic character as a replacement for Town Crier

  13. BB: did you see my Grim Reaper Savant idea a while back? That could molded into the "GR replacement" role you just described... hmmm. I like the Copycot/Emulator/Changeling too (still thinking of the perfect name for it lol)
  14. you mean the Oasis Traveler? yeah I see what you mean, though I had something secret planned I like the Copycat, but not the name ;D how about 'the Emulator'? lol. I'm trying to think of a good name for it... but I like the concept. Sort of an all-around skillsperson or whatever...

    to be honest, I haven't seen much activity from Bonanova of any kind recently. I wonder what happened to him. He used to come on so regularly
  16. BB tore that up pretty good ;D the only other thing he didn't mention was this: if the Innocents were killed in lynchings, their faction & role would already be known ;D

    LIS, if you read my description of the rules so far, you'll read that all day phases are 24 hours long- votes and posts and stuff don't matter. Whoever has the most votes at the end of the 24 hrs is the winner, and anyone that didn't cast a vote is out of the game, since we all agreed 24 hours covers all time zones for big enough time in each time zone, and should be enough for everyone to get on, discuss and vote we can also request an extension of the day if there is an ongoing discussion that WILL determine the outcome of the vote night is 18 hours but may end sooner if I get all the PMs in sooner also, no night or day post will come when I am sleeping or doing other stuff, so time may extend. There's no rush, guys

    I believe it's just Rookie running the site. Martini and Bonanova are just moderators of the Brainden Forum, which means they may be able to see an extra forum, and edit other people's posts, and move/delete topics, etc, and that's just for the forum. Rookie is the main admin of both the forum and the entire site as a whole
  19. my idae for QA roles: Quarky Agent roles: * Master of Disguise - if the Bomb lie-detects a statement by or about the Master of Disguise, the MoD can decide what my reply will be * Master of Espionage - can spy on one person every night. Gets told "Innocent" or "baddie". Influence-able by the Thief * Master of Subterfuge - if the MoS is lynched while 1 or more living QAs are in communication with the MoS, the MoS escapes the lynching 1) no... the remaining QA will kill every night. There are no special conditions for just 1 QA 2) that's only if they ALL do that (or 2/3, which would mean only those 2 could PM). But they didn't, since it was established in the thread that the Mayor could be useful to baddies. One strategy I did help the QAs with I called "persistence" (I hinted at it in one of the posts I think) which is where one person would continually go for the same person until the other QAs took the hint. But anyway, there is no Mayor or confirmed-anything in Mafia IV so your question is irrelevant
  20. why would they be unblockable (assuming you mean un-saveable by a Doctor/Healer)??? what gave you that impression? A Doctor or Healer saves no matter what...

  22. no roughing up will be a Bankroller-only ability in Mafia IV
  23. the Bankroller already has a special ability (roughing-up), but that's a good idea. I'll consider switching it however, this has lots of problems. I have to notify the Bankroller every time a nighttime kill is gonna happen, etc? It just wouldn't work. Good idea though

    ok 24 hour days and 18 hour nights (max 18 hours, if I get the PMs in before this I will start the night post, but day is ALWAYS 24 hours even if everyone has voted, etc. There are numerous reasons for this [which I won't get into right now] both practical and in-game-related)
