Sayalzah, I think it's interesting that you were still online and reading this thread when I made the above post in response to your post. And you didn't respond, instead you logged off. And I'm still waiting to hear what your reasoning was for voting against DN so late in the day? BTW, in case anyone else still cares (it seems that most people have been relatively inactive in this game) I think unreality has a relatively high likelihood of being the Phantom.

You still have yet to make a defense about why you were willing to stick your neck out for DN early on in the vote. Then once the vote had turned almost irreversibly against DN, THEN you changed your vote for him. I am accusing you in the evidence that you tried to deflect for your baddie partner, THEN voted against him when there was no longer anything you could do to help. Now, where's your defense?

He has been laying low, AND gave a weak dissuasion from DN early on, then cast his vote really late (when there was no longer any hope for DN).

Well the night is over, and I have some suspicions about who else might be a baddie. BTW, now that the night is over, I just wanted to share that the Phantom has the ability (among others I am sure) to send messages through the host. I received one last night. He/She ended their phrase with the word "MAN!" in case that type of speech pattern is significant to anyone. The message itself didn't seem significant at all at a glance. Just a threat. I just can't see what the purpose was... which is why I made sure not to disclose the visit until now, after the end of night 2, just in case there's some sort of repercussion for talking about it

So I take it that DN was Hanna Montana, not the Power Ranger? I'll add that to the roster

How big are they? I may want to purchase them And on my end... I just lost over a billion in fines :duh:

Lets look at the types of costs that they have. 1) Compared to regular doctors, the malpractice insurance rates for an orthodontist are much lower. The chances of making an irreversible mistake are slim-to-none (I mean, they move teeth a fraction of a millimeter per visit... where's the risk?). And as such is reflected in the lower rates that they pay. *This yields lower costs* 2) They do have to typically establish their own practices, so there's less cost to share with other orthodontists on the business end of it. So it's more expensive than many other doctors. *This yields higher costs* 3) Often tooth work is considered elective, so often insurance does not cover dental under basic packages. This means that business for them is slower than other healthcare professions. *This yields lower clientele, which is comparable to higher costs* 4) Dentist equipment is pretty unique and expensive. As stated in #3, tooth work is typically considered elective, and therefore not emergency. This means that the equipment is likely not to be used very often and is payed off much slower than other equipment, and the offices are private, so the equipment is not going to be subsidized by the state. *This yields higher costs* 5) Dentist must be at the highest end of the performance pyramid to get into dentist school. With so many other options to make good money, and to make 'a bigger difference in the world' that fall below that on the requirements scale, dentists must make great money IF there are going to be any dentists! What's the incentive for someone to become a dentist if it's harder to be a dentist than another health-care professional, AND you're going to get paid less? *In the real life perspective (not that last hypothetical) This yields higher opportunity costs* So do they make out like bandits? Probably. But are they thieves for doing so? I don't think so.

I was expecting that to be your answer DN... Ok. Lets look at this from a realistic perspective. 1) The Vampire had a 1/10 chance of picking last night's victim. Seems to be fairly low... I would never take that bet. 2) The odds are 1/2 that the power ranger chose to spy the attack victim last night so that the baddies would know who they were killing. That's a bet I would love to take, and therefore am casting my vote. 3) I don't know if I have played against DarthNoob before, but I see that he has plenty of experience here on BD. Am I supposed to believe that he chose to out himself as the innocent spy role (one of the most valuable innocent roles) in the very first post following the night? No way. The only reason he would EVER do that would be if he were a baddie trying to confirm himself as an innocent. The only reason the Vampire would ever do that is IF he had made a mistake. 4) Judging from DN's response, he was completely aware of what he was doing, and in no way believes that he made a mistake. So to sum this up... We know for certain that last night the Baddies killed AND blocked LIS (in case he was the zombie). That they were extremely likely to also spy whoever they killed last night (because the most valuable thing for them to know is IF they successfully killed the zombie) and in fact the odds of the doing so were 50/50 (50 that they chose to spy who they killed, or 50 that they chose anyone else). My vote is not premature. And waiting to vote until much later in the day prevents pressure and critical discussion time. As far as I'm concerned, Day 1 is a snap. DN is a baddie and we need to take him down (btw, it's not bandwagoning with the amount of proof that we have. 'Bandwagoning' typically only applies to a weak suspicion). So hop on folks! Lets git us a no-good trick-r-treater!

Well, this thread is already called "Halloween Mafia" (not signups) So... I suggest that we make 5 more posts (4 more after this one) and start fresh at the top of page 6 for the intro of the game.

Grrr. I just got a new player in my local area that decided it would be a great idea to just barrage the top of the local leaderboard. That lone player demolished 10 of my protective buildings, a few of my 100mils and setup 4 hazards. I hope paying them $250million makes them stop.

Though I do have a few questions. 1) Does the jack-o-lantern also prevent deaths at night? or only during the day? 2) Can the Headless Zombie be blocked? (I hope so or that means there are automatically essentially 2 baddies) 3) When does the Pirate choose how much weight his vote will have? 4) What is the Phantom's wincon? 5) Does Batman's ability apply to every single character in the game?

Very true, the 30mils only get 4 in return. But it's a good investment when you look at the long-run for this game, when you get the crap taxed out of you for having additional roads. Later on in the game the roads are going to be impossible to come-by, and b/c of the taxes you won't be able to stock-pile them, so the 30mil and 100mils are going to be a great way to hoard your money while at the same time making more $ off of the streets than would otherwise be possible. Early on I did alot of searching for those elusive 10-40mil roads. I have one 40+, a few 20+ and a 15+. I think totaling about 6 roads that are worth while. The downside to that is that they will not be enough to launch me back onto the leaderboard when they get filled, because the optimum is going to be somewhere around 15 roads (to max out the revenue-taxes, though I haven't actually done the math yet). Yeah, yesterday I got hit with an over $600,000,000 fine that hurt, bad. The +500,000 are jokes now. I'd rather just not get them at all rather than have my screen reset to the center of the road that I am working on. I never use the sabotages, and I have no use for the demolitions anymore. The only things that matter now are the HUGE fines and the protection bonuses.

Well done! Yeah, I have been reading that the 7-day auto deal doesn't work at all, for anyone, ever. It was a lie/bluff at the start of the game to try to encourage players to be active. And yeah, since the restart I have never attacked a player. FYI, I found that bribery works quite well. I have only been attacked 7 or 8 times by my local leaderboard, and after each time I NEVER retaliate. Instead I turn around and make an offer on the attacker's lowest valued street for either 10X the value or 100,000,000, then they never attack me again. Sometimes they accept, many times they don't accept the offer (I dunno why) but the universal result has been that my local leaderboard has left me completely alone ever since. And one more thing that you may find as stressing as I have... there's an approx 400 building limit on every street. It doesn't matter if the street can hold 2,000 buildings... it will only let you have about 400 of any kind. So even the long ones are limited now

Likely not too riveting until you get on to your local leaderboard. I'll loan you a billion as start-up money if you like.

It's interesting to see that there are others here that have accounts. Though I do have to add that longer streets no longer yield higher rent as LIS stated, they stopped that about 3 days after the restart (check the blog to see what I am talking about) so people who were around at that time got a huge head start. Though it's not too late to jump in on the fun! How is your game going LIS? At one point I jumped way up to 6th place on the top 10 US National leaderboard around week 2-3... and subsequently got slaughtered. It seemed like half the country rose up and united as one to squash my hopes and dreams All of my streets were sabotaged and worthless by the end of that day, and I have been working to fix them and catch back up ever since. But about 30 demolitions and 60-something sabotages take a while to fix I hope your luck is better than mine
