0 plasmid
Some good answers, but something to notice about this one is that "I" am doing the work described in only the first two-and-a-half stanzas. The rest is part of a story, but the question is what "I" might then be, if not a smelter in the process of making munitions.

0 plainglazed
Hey plasmid - really liking Wilson's answer. If it, once again you've outdone yourself. Too funny! Had a couple of guesses gonna throw out there anyway. injection molded plastic or another plastic forming process? oil refining?

I usually make the real answer and the distractor be very different things. Cow? Indeed I am......everyone's favourite ruminant, whose milk requires further curdling to make cheese, or pasteurization if it's to be sold as milkand for getting the right answer I even spelled favourite properly for ya

0 tiger_lily111
Hey plasmid. My reasoning was err....different... Ha ha! I missed out on this one completely, but take heart Wilson! I thought plasmid was talking about BOTH your take and his! (While not an expert, I did grow up on a cattle farm & did 4H, & then also spent some time in the dairy industry before going back to school - hence why I can say both are certainly plausible!) 0 plainglazed
Me too, Wilson. That's why I thought it was so funny. that ruminent/divided tummy thing seemed to work. Certainly in no way meant to take anything away from another plasmid gem. P.S. nice rhymes! added spoiler. 0 plasmid
Far be it from me to go hiding double meanings in my riddles! Though I admit, this time it really was completely unintentional. Good perspectives on the process, everyone.
Question
plasmid
Give me crude material
That's taken from the ground
My process then's ethereal
As all is mixed around
Heating up this witches' brew
Would give me such delight
Rock it back and forth a few
More times to get it right
The molten ore is still impure
Although I've done my drill
To say it's finished: premature
More work to make a kill
This carbon mixture's in a cast
And hardens to a shell
Or else there soon will come a blast
To send the foul to hell
