Each doublet hopefully describes a word. All of those words have something in common. It would be nice to have each word in addition to the common thread for the answer. 0 Guest
Along those lines, these are my thoughts for each line as I know: Could be the perfect storm But no, not either or. Eye, or tornado, etc. Although, since it is NOT a storm, I'm sure my brain is going to click one of these days and I'll see a cool, clever connection And for not telling the truth I've plead the fifth before. All I can think of is GUILTY, since that's likely why you'd plead the fifth 'Cause in your local armory You might swap me in kind, I would swap a knife for just about anything in my local armory For this life line's no aid; Is another way to find. like a fishing pole? I'm not sure here A forceful piece that's constant Carved a slice of special cake. I'm thinking a "special kind of cake," much like the storm idea I'm looking for. But, I'd say a knife would slice the cake, which is why my first guess was knife, the only two connections which seem similar to me. I don't know why I thought BUTTER, though. Put it all together and Some sense of this you'll make.

0 plainglazed
Along those lines, these are my thoughts for each line as I know: Good thoughts all, but not relative to this riddle this time. May be obvious but am gonna state it here and now because I may have given the impression on more than one occacion that I am off of these but.... These are play on words. Not like the "quickies" where every couple of words represents a letter or two. But kinda similar with words instead of letters (you might say true POWs vs play on letters). 0 plainglazed
I know you said it's not a play on letters, but for fun, this is what I got : ) Sounds like that was fun? So put it all together and maybe thats "finish capital five?" Not it, of course. But I may have misled before when I said these are not plays on letters. In reviewing there are two cases here where letters are part of the word play (manipulation).

No wonder. You have a part of each word answer in all but the third stanza. Some of what you have may be the *root* word and in others may be part of how the word is *played*. Dont really know how to direct you further without giving away too much of the fun... Please keep going.

I wish I could analyze these things better, but as soon as you said some of the answers are just letters, and not words, I got confused all over again!! Grr, the POW. I'll go back again and see what I can come up with. Do the clues add up to make one phrase, or one word? 0 plasmid
I don't think I've seen the answer to the first clue yet: "nor", as in 'nor-Eastern, a common expression for a horrible storm. Nothing else really jumps out at me for the others, except maybe "pound" for the fifth one, but I'm not at all confident in that one. Could be the perfect storm - another meaning of perfect storm or perfect storm is an example of a "Nor'Easter" But no, not either or. - not either or = nor - But no nor leaves Easter--first clue Well done plasmid. Get the next one and the connection between the five one word answers may come making the last three a lot easier.
