A popular conception

Is there's no way out

To give it a rest

Lodge nary a doubt

By popular demand

If there's no way out

Bar keeping the rest

Or lodge not a doubt

Then when it all goes down

There'll be no end in sight

Curiously heavy

Int'resting in light

And never here quite yet

Though soon to be true

When it's written in ink

A sign to construe

For its no picnic

Always these in tow

So find those relations

You favor; you know?

The end of the world?

When it all goes down there will be no end in sight.

Once the "end of the world" happens and the human race survives, people will realize there is no end of the world (at least until the next end-of-the-world hype).

Curiously heavy, interesting in light.

It seems very foreboding, but seen in foresight it's interesting, in a funny sort of way.

Never here quite yet, though soon to be true.

There are constant predictions of the end of the world that are in the near future, but never come.

When it's written in ink, a sign to construe.

i.e. The Mayan calendar: When it's been set in stone for so long, it's hard for some people to deny it.

Last will and testament. (possibly of a man condemned to death?)

nope, none of the above.

further breaking down each couplet into each half of the rhyme might be helpful.

heart. when it goes down (sinks) you sigh -t. Curiously heavy-hearted, intestingly light-hearted.

Curiously heavy

Int'resting in light

I wonder why "int'resting" is spelled as it is. It's not to fit it to any rhythm or meter, as the other last lines have a different meter than the result.

Remains Of The Day - Independence - by fabpig

By popular demand

If there's no way out - in as a result of being popular or as in not out

Bar keeping the rest

Or lodge not a doubt - bar like an old timey tavern where you stay the night or a lodge is an inn

When it all goes down

There'll be no end in sight - deep as in extending downward to a great extent

Curiously heavy

Int'resting in light - or deep as in profound

Never here quite yet

Though soon to be true - pend as in to await resolution or conformation

When it's written in ink

A sign to construe - penned - yada yada yada...

For its no picnic

Always these in tow - ants

To find those relations

You favor; you know? - aunts

threw this one together rather quickly due to the timing. not my proudest moment here in the Den. could have used some further edits. hope none were too disappointed. still and always fun from this end.
