From ROOTING = 1 we know either R or T is correct or R and T exist elsewhere in the word. (Since the letters GINO do not exist in the word) With MEETING = 1.5 and knowing the E is the second letter we know either the second E or the T is in the wrong spot. So we now know either the first letter is R or R and T is in the wrong spot since T can't be the fourth letter. Can you think of a word that use the letters DGIMNOZ and either a R or a T in a particular spot to prove which it is? Proving R would help a lot with figuring the scores of REDECAY and RECEDES. Proving T = 0.5 in the fourth spot would prove that the word only has one E and help with how words with a T might have been scored. Another option is to build the list of letters known to not be in the word. With a seven letter word there is at least 19 of them. You have DGIMNOZ so far. Kind of hoping to get others interested in this variation. I've been noticing the longer words tend to be easier to guess the normal way. nana77
I was not going to mention the R is proven but here goes. We know 2nd letter is E. Since MEETING = 1.5, only .5 is left for either --E or ---T, so T is not in the right spot. Rooting = 1, and T is not in the right spot, so either R is in the right spot or R and T are both in the wrong spot. If R and T are both valid letters, and there is only 1 E per MEETING = 1.5 and RECEDES = 3.5 and D is disproven, only 1 E would be allowed, leaving REC---S, which means all 4 letters are valid with 3 in the right spot in order to have 3.5 score So RECST would all be valid letters if T is valid. But STORAGE = 1.5, and STRE is too many letters (would equal 2.0 or more), max of 3 can be right for 1.5. Therefore T is proved not valid. Therefore R must be the first letter.
