  2. Here is a modified version of Bonanova's puzzle Suppose n tickets numbered 1-n are in a box, and you draw five of them without putting them back in the box. Your tickets have numbers p1, p2, p3, p4 and p5 on them. You don't know how many tickets are in the box, but you are asked to estimate how many there are. What estimate of n has the highest likelihood of being correct?

  5. I found a solution that requires only 7 pieces, but it requires flipping of 2 of the pieces to the other side. Since the OP didn't prohibit that I'm posting my solution.
  6. Sure it does. Your OP says "... no more than two people in the group would have the same number of friends". This means that 2 people can have the same number of friends. In your example there are only 2 people with 2 friends.
  7. Not only it's possible, but it's quite simple too.
