I'm not completely convinced that there's always a solution, and I don't think plasmid is either.

Is there any sort of probability distribution for Alice's margin of error? Can it be anything between 0 and infinity?
It would be interesting to simulate this strategy against a grid of Paula numbers. I can't tell, from analysis or intuition, whether the strategy is effective.
