    Does your friend own the computer? *I think* that if your friend wants you to write code for him to use on his own computer then you can code whatever you want. *I think* the only legality comes into play if the computer you are putting the code on does not belong to either you or your friend.

    Break up the equation into a smaller equation. 7*8 > 7+8 > 7/8 > 7-8 Show that for n > 1 n*(n+1) > n+(n+1) > n/(n+1) > n-(n+1) When n = 1 then n+(n+1) > n*(n+1) > n/(n+1) > n-(n+1) With or without parentheses once 1+2 is done every number combination will be > 1 so the largest value will be obtained with a multiplication. Does this logic sound right? been a long time since I did this kind of stuff. edit - grammar/typing fail

    I believe this is impossible without some trick. The * 9 doesn't work because then 2 * 5 - 1/2 * 10 = 21/9 = 7/3 there is no way to get a /3. Using parentheses to get the * 9 in the division would also get the * 10 and there is no way to get a large enough number on top.

    Are parentheses allowed? With order of operations 1+2*3*4*5*6*7*8 = 40321 since the multiplication would take place before the addition.

    I have issues with some of this article. It seems to interchange the holographic film with the perception of the hologram. How could a hologram observe itself within itself? Is out conscience supposed to exist outside of the "film" to observe this 3D environment? If the universe is like a holographic film then why can a frog be dissected instead of spawning a smaller universe since we are cutting the "film"? Or does that not work because the cutting is a hologram of us cutting the frog, we aren't actually cutting the film? I can maybe see this expanding to multiple universe theory. Choices cut the film of the universe spawning copies?
