Does the problem just say 3 positive integers or does it specify consecutive or multiples?

Read the articles and find out as much information as you can about the cops that are mentioned. See if you can find a connection between the articles.

darkness? Not sure how you can give darkness to a door.

"Seems" is an understatement. Check phone directories for the wall number.

Thanks Thalia for your wonderful help. I have a question about this one: (9^2?17)/4?14=2. Do you raise 9 to the 2nd power? This one is hard for me to figure out. Can you please give me some more clues. Thanks.
Yes. So it is (81?17)/4?14=2. The ? are both the same operation. That should rule out multiplication and probably division. That leaves. . .
I assume that means you got the other ones?

I'm not sure if you need 3 or 5. I think this is just trial and error. I'll give you certain pieces and let you figure out the rest.
(17-14)?2+4?9=1
(9^2?17)/4?14=2
4*9?14-17?2=3
(17-14?9)/4?2=5
If you still need help, I'll give you a little more. There are probably other possibilities besides these.

If that is the intended answer, someone else may post the next quote since I just did one.

No but good guess.

Who were the employees working with Sarah? Any connections to the Knight family in the past?

Well, good luck. Unless there is an alternative meaning for the * or you can add other symbols, it doesn't look like it's going to work. One thing you could experiment with is putting parentheses between the numbers. 2(1) instead of 21 so it equals 2. Another thing to consider is replacing the / with the division sign (the line with 2 dots). I'm still not getting anything from that but maybe you will.

Does the original problem use the * or the multiplication x? I don't think it makes a difference but just in case. . .
-
You don't need to make those lists. Lets call the first number "x". That makes the othe number "x+3". (x+3)^2-x^2=1989. This becomes x^2+6x+9-x^2=1989. The "x^2"s cancel each other out leaving you with 6x+9=1989. I think you know how to finish this.

gawd, just arrest the guy. use the taser and the lie detector, and ask all the same questions. Same with robbie. Arrest him, tase him, ask him questions.
Lol. I think he has to do something violent before you can legally tase him.

Can you arrest him for withholding information related to the investigation? It might not do any good but I guess you could try an interrogation.

That her sister was dead? If that would kill her, maybe she wished that she was half dead. Her sister would be completely dead and she might recover. ?

It's OK. I think my brain has declared a strike. Among other memory issues, I almost went to school on a no school day last week.

Well, the formula would be a^2+b^2+c^2=1989. I have no clue how you would solve that though.
