As the country grew, it?s freedom was saved,
Well, everyone except those who were enslaved.
Some of them were teased, others were shunned,
Causing both North and South to pull out their guns.
The civil war started, the military divided,
Both sides were stubborn, but it eventually subsided.
The South was still mad, but back they started to trickle,
Even though their attitude was as sour as a pickle.
Lucky for us, the war here was through,
But then we got into World War II.
To help out over seas, we grew gardens in our yards,
And anything we didn?t eat, we gave to others in jars.
I think that I?ll finish with something from today,
Because we know today is tomorrow?s yesterday.
Even though history may sometimes seem unreal,
You may be making it when you can?t stop honking on the wheel.
