9A: CoSmOS

oooh - I tried that one, sort of.

CoSMoS is 101 ... and I thought YSan always uses the lowest sum. But I suppose exceptions need to be made for the puzzle to work!

I feel like someone who entered a conversation late...I don't know the goal or the rules. I see word answers with some letters, butnot all letters, capitalized, converted to numbers, and given as The Answer. What is the rule describing which letters are permitted to be omitted (ie. kept in lower case)?

When Y-san refers to something as "enigmatic" she means that it relates to the periodic table. So all the squares in the crossword contain elements that spell words. The numbers are the total of the atomic numbers.

Yeah...

Well, for this I needed to use some elements in more than one word...and in order to minimize the sum for one word I might not be able to for a word that uses one of the same elements...so it's necessary...

I think that this is what we have so far!

:)

Thanks, andromeda :D. Some of you may realize 15 across actually has a double meaning...:whistling: ;P

Oh...and I was sent this in an e-mail today...wanted to share but didn't think it warranted a new thread:

Title: Happy Non-trivial Geometric Mean Day!

"That's right, it's 09/03/27, which would be... non-trivial geometric

mean day! Upcoming non-trivial geometric mean days include (don't

hold your breath) 2010 April 25, 2010 May 20, and 2012 June 24. You

should celebrate by, uh... taking a geometry course, I suppose.

Something like that."
