Question

It's to God who I listen

He is my one and my all

My name he has changed

I always await His call

A promise to live

He had once given me

And live I did

Through a storm on the sea

A captive I was

While preaching his word

My gaurds did learn

For the message they heard

I was bitten by a snake

Everyone doubted I'd live

But not a briuse appeared

So in that I praised Him

I hope you accept God

And recieve eternal life

Now the question remaining

Is; WHO AM I?

This sounds more like a personal testimony than a riddle.

When I think of the Tarsian I think of a man

Who perpetrated ill for the self-righteous clan.

His opinion of female and that of the gay

Is a crime that lives on, even today.

If you wish to post riddles proclaiming your God,

I suggest Haggard’s website, or some Christian blog. :D

I've never seen why

Everyone has to try

So hard to deny.

For many with a brain

Heard creation's refrain:

The man-God came!

I fear it may be too late

For us to debate.

Are you just going to wait?

He gave us His all

And is now standing tall.

Maybe you hear His call.

But if you decide

To just run and hide

I won't deride.

Why don't you think twice

And to newbies be nice?

Here's my advice:

Had this riddle instead

About another god read

Would you have said

"Away with him now!"

Or would you solve it somehow

And then take a bow?

Why do you choose

Such limited views

And then come to bruise?

The Den isn't the place

For such a disgrace

Or for hate to embrace.

Please open your mind.

I think you will find

'Tis better to be kind.

It has to be the apostle Paul.

His name used to be Saul and was changed following his visit to Damascus.

He was imprisoned several times in his ministry.

There is a famous shipwreck story on the way to Rome.

His jailer was converted in Phillippi.

He was bitten by a viper in Malta (following the shipwreck) with no ill effects.

Welcome to the Den, DPT!

*sigh* Every riddle on this site is designed to test your knowledge. May it be of technology, mathmatics, world geography, or even the Bible. I'm sorry if this offends any of you, but I am not ashamed of my God. I enjoy this site and would hate to think that you would be willing to kick me off merley for believing in Him. If you do not like my riddles than please just ignore them; although I invite you to read them either way.

And, yes, it is Paul. The snake may have been too much. :D

Yea, the first section had me thinking Jacob/Israel, but I knew exactly who it was when I got to the shipwreck/storm on the sea.

Even if you don't believe in god, it is still history. Ok. You don't know the answer to 1 question. That just leaves an opportunity for other people who have knowledge of that part of history. To Peach Tree- thanks for posting a riddle on the bible....

i am really proud of how daddyspeachtree has represented another aspect that i also hold close to my heart

i've been getting more and more notifications from the moderators about how i m always off topic, but in my opinion, i believe that talking about other important aspects are essential as well

i dont care if i get knocked off the site for this, as long as i believe i have done everything i can to represent my God

Thank you Houston, you enforced my point rather succintly. When posters use the forum to exhort their personal religious sentiments, as you have now done, it veers far from its intended purpose, wouldn't you say? If you had noticed, I included a laughing face with my initial post to demonstrate that I held no ill will. But as expected, some see any negative response to religion as a personal assault and indicative of . . . what were your words? Oh yes, hate and cruelty. Pretty over the top there Hokie. "Tis better to be kind?" Funny that, for you utilized the opportunity of your little rhyme to actually DERIDE non-believers as people without brains who "deny" "run" and "hide!" Wow! Good show! As an atheist I find that thoroughly offensive, friend, and considering your purpose in posting, the epitome of hypocrisy. But most importantly, the fact that we are even having this "discussion" is the reason why posting one's personal religious beliefs seems entirely inappropriate, be it couched in a riddle or stated quite plainly as you have done. It is wholly unneccessary and may lead to disputation. Such remarks belong on a religious blog. I apologize to the moderators for chewing up thread space here.

Cheers

Housten Hookie's response does not change the fact that DaddysPeachTree posted only a riddle and you treated him with unwelcome. DaddysPeachTree and his riddle, no matter the theme, should both be welcome here.

It is a good first riddle, DaddysPeachTree, welcome to the den.

Smile, :D it confuses people!!!!! Let's just keep posting and solving riddles and enjoy this site for all that it is. Differences make us unique and special.

and i do apologize for stirring up any resentment between people. I meant no harm by anything and I am sure Houston didn't either. (note; I'm apologizing for creating a 'battle-like' zone, not for my belief)

So, anyway, this riddle's been solved, so onto another!

(thank you all for posting, this has been very interesting and I've enjoyed the experience) :P

No, I disagree. The theme was fine, the riddle fine. But DaddysPeachTree also initiated a religious discussion by exhorting others to turn to God at the end of his/her riddle. And lo and behold THAT is what has happened. No big deal and I'm sure DPT has enough skin to weather my response. I apologize to DPT if I offended in any way. But I personally don't think pouring out one's personal ideology is appropriate. That's just my take on the matter.

[moderating]

No, they're not. Brain teasers are meant to exercise your problem solving skills, not your knowledge of Bible trivia, sports trivia, etc. And this forum certainly isn't meant for witnessing, debate, and posters bringing up how they don't care about getting kicked off this site.

i've been getting more and more notifications from the moderators about how i m always off topic, but in my opinion, i believe that talking about other important aspects are essential as well

i dont care if i get knocked off the site for this, as long as i believe i have done everything i can to represent my God

So you understand you're not following the rules of the site but you don't care because you've determined what's important here? Then maybe since you don't care about losing your membership here I can take care of that for you.
