Question

Inspired by Andromeda's Lock the Chain and Itachi-san's Disappearing Riddle...

What do these mean? Each is connected to the one before and the one after.

1) My mother is thirty,

I am five.

2) Without any jeans,

You cannot move.

3) There is no limit,

To the number of its beauty.

4) To halt has eight,

To be gracious has three.

5) It truncates and divides,

and is the end.

6) Once this has been handed out,

that will be taken from you.

(loops back around to 1)

The connection is in the interpretation, not the answer. ;P

Err...sorry, missed one:

Inspired by Andromeda's Lock the Chain and Itachi-san's Disappearing Riddle...

I have to eat 2 pastries.

5) It truncates and divides,

and is the end.

that will be taken from you.

Oh, and the goal is to name the connections and interpret the lines. ;)

These are really interesting so I had to give it a go... :D

I don't have any solutions yet, just an idea about number #1

1) My mother is thirty,

I am five. - this has something to do with XXX

Good thinking, but that's not it...and, thinking about it, actually if I were to be more consistent, I should say "I am six", not five...;)

:)

1) My mother is thirty,

I am five.....................GROWTH?

2) Without any jeans,

You cannot move........DNA? (JEANS=GENES?)

3) There is no limit,

To the number of its beauty. (things start to get fuzzy here, but this is KINDA true of the genetic code)

4) To halt has eight,

To be gracious has three....now I'm reaching...Eight is enough? Three is a minimum for a Dad, Mom, Child combination?

4.5) To be full,

I have to eat 2 pastries.....PREGNANCY? :D:D:D

5) It truncates and divides,

and is the end..................... DEATH?

6) Once this has been handed out,

that will be taken from you....LIFE?

So, am I even close?

Uh...sorry, no...it may help if you don't look at it as if there is one right answer for each, but two things in each interpretation...one that is also used in the part above and one that is also used in the part below...i.e....

1) A blah blah blah B

2) B blah blah blah C

3) C blah blah blah D

2nd part of 2:

can't move --> bound

1st part of 3:

no limit -->boundless

I don't know where to go with this

Hm... you've given me an idea

4) To halt has eight,

To be gracious has three.

4.5) To be full,

I have to eat 2 pastries.

I'm probably way of but the word FULL can mean "to make a garment full, as by pleating or gathering" and gracious ladies wear it (Y-san is not a Princess though :P ). I don't know where to put three... EDIT: I forgot to say - GARMENT :D

Woman, when you spice it up it's really difficult for the brain to digest!!!

To halt or stop.

Stop Sign has eight sides

To be gracious or yield.

Yield Sign has 3 sides

Good! You're right that I'm talking about STOP and YIELD signs, but I'm not talking about sides...so you just know one link but still need to find the other...;P

Edit: Made the correct link more obvious...since ppl are trying so hard ;)

hopefully some of these spark some other people's more reasonable thoughts

1) My mother is thirty,

I am five.-Life on Earth (I know the numbers don't add up, but Earth is almost 5 Billion years old, so maybe the Universe?, but that would be about 15 then...)

2) Without any jeans,

You cannot move. -sans culottes  let's see...what brand of jeans does Y-San wear? south pole?

3) There is no limit,

To the number of its beauty. -a picture is worth a thousand words, so then are movies or a lifetime or memories limitless?

4) To halt has eight,

To be gracious has three. -'sign' is said, but there are apparently more words here so maybe street, traffic, safety

5) It truncates and divides,

and is the end. -Contractions shorten language and they happen at the end of pregnancy

6) Once this has been handed out,

that will be taken from you. -this I need to get some other answers because it could be many things without the other links

lol is any of this even close?

1) My mother is thirty,

I am five.-Life on Earth (I know the numbers don't add up, but Earth is almost 5 Billion years old, so maybe the Universe?, but that would be about 15 then...) -not really...remember I later mentioned that saying "I am six" would be more consistent, if that helps ;)

2) Without any jeans,

You cannot move. -sans culottes  let's see...what brand of jeans does Y-San wear? south pole? -lol, actually, I'm not really a jeans person ;P, but "south pole" gets closer to what I'm thinking ;)

3) There is no limit,

To the number of its beauty. -a picture is worth a thousand words, so then are movies or a lifetime or memories limitless? -good guess, but no...doesn't the fact that I use "number" to quantify beauty seem strange? ;P

4) To halt has eight,

To be gracious has three. -'sign' is said, but there are apparently more words here so maybe street, traffic, safety - actually, the other link has to do with what they "have", the eight and the three, but it's not sides...

And I forgot one in the initial post, sorry, I added it soon after...to make it up to you, I'll let you know that "sign" links the previous to this one:

4.5) To be full,

I have to eat 2 pastries.

5) It truncates and divides,

and is the end. -Contractions shorten language and they happen at the end of pregnancy -yep, it has to do with language :D

6) Once this has been handed out,

that will be taken from you. -this I need to get some other answers because it could be many things without the other links -yes, you do, that's what I was going for :P

lol is any of this even close? -you're getting there, doing well ;P

5) It truncates and divides,

and is the end.

Plane. A plane would divide a 3 dimensional object or truncate it's corners. Maybe?

Also thinking some more about no.2, no.4, and no.4-1/2

Spoiler for Um:

For 2 I had suggested "Seven" jeans. And 4 is related to sign or maybe sine and 4.5 might be 2 pies or 2pi which leads me to thinking about cos(2pi/7)=1 but I may be way off.

You're getting close, but not that brand, and not that meaning of "no" ;P...but your interpretation of "pastry" is correct...don't forget the first line of 4.5 ;)

Based on the good Professor's interpretation of pastry....

4.5) To be full,

I have to eat 2 pastries.

For something to be full, we need 2pi. Since the connection from #4 was "signs", consider a standard sine wave, where 0 < x < 2pi would give you a full period.

I think "period" might connect to the next part since it can be used to truncate and divide, and it also indicates the end of a sentence.

5) It truncates and divides,

and is the end.

Yep...and you actually got both links for #5...;P

Great job!

So if "sentence" is the second link from number 5, it should link to #6:

6) Once this has been handed out,

that will be taken from you.

So... once a sentence has been handed out, something will be taken. If its a prison sentence then freedom will be taken from you, or it could be a death sentence, in which case life would be taken. Is it "life"?
