Well, I suppose I should give a small hint because this one is very difficult. the OP comment is meant to be a hint. Also, you've got #1 and #3 and almost #4. No one has stated the obvious Reaper (Grim Reaper) Star gazing picnic or something. [/grasping at straws] Only 4 is close. Here's a good hint for 4: put this answer together with a previously given answer and you get the correct answer =)
0 itachi-san
What are things that grow in ponds/lakes No sorry. Small hint for the theme: the way I put these together, I figured 2,5, and the theme would all fall into place at the same time.

0 itachi-san
For numbers 1 and 3, which I have determined solved, there should be a bit more clarification to them. This should spark some thoughts. 1 is Cypresses, usually found in a field or by a road 3 is lilies that are almost always in a vase 4 is a combination of two answers given, particularly the sickle and the reaper

0 itachi-san
is it a carnival theme. with ferris wheels and haunted houses and such? Nope. It's not insect related or carnival related. Though I do think those are interesting topics. I really thought that last post I made was gonna give it away. Here's another hint: though not similar answers both 2 and 5 have to do with darkness. 0 Brandonb
Theme = Winter Solstice 1) Cypress (winter evergreen) 2) Ashes, from a night campfire while watching the sky. 3) lilies (Star Gazer Lily) 4) Ice Sickles 5) Star gazing spot
0 itachi-san
I like these guesses very much: phoenix and winter solstice, but nonetheless they are not the theme. Here is a big-time hint. I only recommend it if you've had enough of thinking about this one a google search on #1 would probably enlighten you about the darker riddles. 1) Standing tall, old and proud
Symbolic of Hades' prickly shroud
2) The bright stand out and clearly show
A wind above the town below
3) Raised in Italy, brought to France
Now almost everywhere I dance
On pendants and patches
Uniforms and Flags
Artistically, I am thusly enhanced
4) Though not as wicked as death
I bare the same name
We do both end lives
Our tools are the same
5) Now that the sun has dipped below the horizon
There's an eatery of sorts, that I've got my eyes on
With a patio and chairs I can sit outside on
