so here's my idea of "fun".

a balanced ternary slide rule!

i can't imagine what use it would be, unless you find yourself needing to do multiplication in balanced ternary.

do a Google search for slide rule. its a mechanism of calculating division and multiplication quickly (reduces it to addition subtraction.)

A balanced binary slide rule sounds much more useful despite being just as useless.

If you can think of a use for it, there is probably a simpler solution staring you in the face.

It still provides the illusion that you are a practical geek rather than an unrealistic one

So where did you get the fractional log values for base 3?

quite simply log base 10 of 7 / log base 10 of 3 = log base 3 of 7.
