A Sunny Riddle

Question

I’m the acrobat at your command,

Give me a whirl, put me on the stand.

I’m the sentinel, doorman that you need,

Give me the go ahead, a go-ahead from me.

Hit me, poke me, nail me in your wake,

Without my flips, weaker knees would quake.

I live in one state and travel to another,

Sunny side up or fumble in the other.

Hey hey hey, Ani! Welcome to the Den! And don't worry, there's no such thing as a bad guess. We go easy on all them noobs! If you can get over the craziness surrounding those who live here, you'll be a great addition to our big happy family!

Yeah Ani, welcome and don't sweat, particularly since your guess, though incorrect, is along the right track. Not one of my better riddles I admit; I banged it out in about a minute with my 4 year-old tugging on my elbow. But it's out there now, so good luck. By the way, nothing yet.

a switch or night light

And We Have A Winner!

Light Switch:

Two states, "flip" on or off or turn (whirl). Can be on the wall by the door (sentry) or on a light stand. Etc.

Hey chad. Some light switches are not the flip-up/down kind, they just require a push, like those in my home. My kids whack them on, but they only need a poke (fingernail touching).

I like it, but I don't understand this line:

Hit me, poke me, nail me in your wake,
