  1. Only Samuelson mentioned being early "Well, Detective, I arrived early, knowing Mr. Bennett's crowds."
  2. The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes have 279 pp according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Memoirs_of_Sherlock_Holmes the final story being the "the final problem" where Arthur Conan Doyle kill off his main charater so he can focus on his other works. The name of the place of Sherlocks demise is falls of Reichenbach I take it is not correct, but it is not entirely a guess "and there, deep down in that dreadful caldron of swirling water and seething foam, will lie for all time the most dangerous criminal and the foremost champion of the law of their generation." also sounded like it may apply to your situation unfortunately the copy of the Memoirs I was reading only went to page 259 (the remaining pages being the introduction and the advertisements at the end) http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Page:Memoirs_of_Sherlock_Holmes_1894_Burt.djvu/277
  3. @Unreality It is easier to see that bootstrapping the universe could be done by something smaller in size but more complex, in which case redundancy would be evidence for a God/Universe of this kind. How would something as intricate as the universe be generated from something that is greatly less complex?

  8. You've got it but need to transform the sets of arrows into letters left down up right left a e i m down b f j n up c g k o right d h l p not to sure how the other one goes as I assigned each pair to a random letter and only figured out the order in retrospect
  9. @potok Hold is where you need to keep you foot on a pad for an extended length (see first arrow) Jump is where you place two feet on pads at the same time (i.e up and left) Tap is where one foot is placed on a pad (up , down, left or right on their own) You can see the number of holds, jumps, and taps in the message at the side of the editor There are 4 possible taps per line (up, down, left, right) if you take two lines there is 4 in the first and 4 in the second (4 x 4 = 16) There are 6 possible jumps up and left down and left right and left up and right down and right up and down There appear to only be 4 holds (up down left and right) 16 + 6 + 4 = 26 characters that can be represented try using http://www.blisstonia.com/software/WebDecrypto/ to automatically solve (I found I had to do some minor edits afterwards)
  10. I'm guessing B-Kuns beach house is not in Samoa (not now at least). Or was the date of the events just a clue that there was something odd about the message ? (there is no way Y-San could expect anyone to have recalled Autumn 267, let alone herself) * begins looking for out-of-the-box in mainland china *
  11. 4, but you have 2 feet so 4 possible with one foot (tap) 6 possible with two feet (jump) 4 possible with hold? @Y-san, I believe our border has already called dibs on Benedict Cumberbatch
  12. Initial analyasis: Widly assumeing that someone has four limbs one bar could represent 16 values (15 if Spaces are Spaces), As this is not enough to for an alphabet (even worse if only feet are involved, which they appear to be) more than one beat would have to be used to for a character of the English alphabet. Only 4 values can be represented using one foot and 6 more with 2 feet, for a grand total of 10 values (Spaces are done with no feet). This of course is not counting the extended notes which each extend 3 bars and appear to be done with only 1 foot. Additionally there are a total of 41 (0-40 inclusive) beats which cannot be evenly divided so some of the "letters" must be a different number of beats. Extended notes as well as some of the spaces extend for 3 bars however counting back this is not consistant with a waltz (groups of 3) over the whole message
