  1. mmmmmm, good point. I dunno what to do about that though. If we are promised baddie identities, and they follow through. I can't figure that we could do better than a baddie lynch every day, can you?

I think I'm going call it a night. I will be back to vote in the morning.

How much time is left UR?

Yeah, that's true...but based on how crafty this initial proposal is, I don't think it's the end of it...like a blackmailer, always asking for more money...they will probably put some restrictions on the Ninja action as well, like "No killing" or something...I dunno...like you said, it's a "deal with the devil"...

Plus I hate being told what to do (right, UR? :P)...

  2. Hehe, I'm not a lawyer, yet :P I got a few more years ahead of me.

Yeah, I think that's pretty obvious.

My thoughts are that the Spy and the Inspector are not gonna come out this early, they don't have enough information to do that. Instead of accidentally lynching one of them, or the Defender, or the Vagabond, or saving role, we can cross our fingers and lynch a less critical innocent.

The Bomb can't lie detect "I am innocent" statements anymore, so I don't know why the mafia wants to take them out so bad. But it sounds like a good trade to me IF they are going to keep up their end of the deal. Even if they don't keep their end of the deal, it's not a terrible casualty to take. The bomb can't help us like it used to, it's much less of an innocent defender, and slightly more of a baddie aggressor.

So I know this is going to make me look like a baddie (everything I do always does), but I am going to vote for Tolecnal. I believe it is in our best interest until we find more information in the following posts. If no one is with me, I am more than happy to change my vote if someone knows something that I don't.

    Edit:Update Roster

Edit 2: Well apparently the train has begun to move in a different direction, so I will withdraw my vote for now.

Hehe...so a few more years before you actually become evil...;P

But the way I see the deal is that basically the Mafia have little or nothing to lose...their goal is to take out everyone except themselves anyways, so basically by giving us the names of the other baddies, they're having us do part of their dirty work for them...at night they kill off the innocents, and during the day, we kill off the other baddies...

...oh! and plus this means that we're killing off other baddies instead of mafiosos so that the mafiosos will all still be alive...so basically by the time they feed us the other 5 baddies and we lynch them, we will be down at least 5 innocents (probably more like 10, depending on who kills who and saving roles, etc), so the innocents may end up in a lynch-or-lose situation or worse...

    Edit: clarification

  3. Yeah, I know, I wasn't sure which one of them to vote for. They are both quite possible, maybe both of them are baddies(Oh that would just be evil, hopefully unreality didn't put two of the best players in the mafia :D ), I just picked one. GC hasn't posted much(I know that's because of time zone issues), but I'd like to hear a defense of his.

Uhhh....after the whole UR/Spy debacle in Mafia V, didn't we all agree it should be random...

  4. uhhh yeah, that's on the list too ;D Just added that for Mafia VI. And it's not unclear- if you read previous Mafia games, it's ALWAYS shown when Doc/Healer, QAs, etc, get BTSC. It won't be shown for Vagabond/Defender if Vagabond tags Def (cuz tagging only shows up if tagged a QA), but will be shown if Defender saves Vagabond

Gah...oops, have to go back and read the [incredibly long] rules more closely...the Philosopher distraction is not helping either...:P

oh... I see. But Brandonb is more known for being incredibly evil...

Lol...but Bb's not evil (even if he *is* a lawyer ;P)...he just plays very craftily...and yeah, I thought the message seemed kinda Bb-esque, and he does seem to be the only one kinda pushing to vote for Tocenal...but I'm not sure...

  5. I don't think it has been asked, but do we find out in the night post if the QA's managed to obtain BTSC? I'm guessing not....

They get it if they both go after the same person, and they didn't...one went after Frost, and the other Bb...

And thanks, Unreality, for clearing that up...one less thing to be paranoid about...XP

  6. Yeah, that was a really easy and almost cheap win for the Jihadist. I think the same type thing may be happening with the Yakuza. I thought it said in the rules somewhere that they have their own secret objective.

Edit: BTW, how much time is left?

And is anyone else considering voting for the bomber?

Yeah...but you know the Yakuza are baddies...but the fact that Unreality put in that whole Ninja/GR exhange in the intro makes me suspicious...it's not like him to put things in without a reason...he sometimes makes the stories unnecessarily (although not unpleasantly ;)) long, but each one has a purpose...I dunno, just think we should keep the possibility in mind so we don't get blind-sided like in IV...

    Edit: Clarification

  7. "And the whole Ninja/GR exchange in the intro bothers me...like the pig-letter thing in IV...maybe they're actually on the same side, i.e. the Ninja is a secret baddie or the GR is a secret innocent..."

This bothers me. How could any player be a secret faction without that being mentioned in the opening rules?

    edit added quotes

....Umm....remember Dawh being the secret baddie Jihadist trying to kill the Warlock in Mafia IV...?

Edit: And he succeeded, in a part due to the fact no one considered the possibility...

  8. This was the first part of the post:

"[strangely enough, we figured out who the GR is on the first night! Amazing huh? We’re not bluffing! So here’s the deal. If you all Lynch the SB for us today (Tolecnal) then tomorrow night we will give you the Reaper’s identity. Think about it, if you wanted to you could let him/her live through the day so the Ninja can have His/Her epic battle that night! That’s what we would like to see. You can be sure of the GR's identity, when we give you the name tonight and you lynch him/her tomorrow. This deal that we are offering Sounds like a bargain to us! Heck, we may even throw in a Yakuza!"

I initially thought that the Mafia were full of it, but after reading this, then rereading the rules "The Mafia know who the members of their rival gang, the Yakuza, are (but not who is Oyabun and who is Shatei)" and what Unreality said, I'm thinking otherwise. If the Mafia know who the Yakuza are, then why not just offer a Yakuza instead of the GR? If it wasn't for this I would think that they were full of it about knowing the GR.

So, is it worth it to make a deal with the devil in order to take out the most elusive baddie in the game?

Well, you kind of gave away what I was waiting to test for, so here's a possibility I was thinking of:

The Mafia does not know who the GR is, they don't really think we're going to take their deal, but they want to know who the GR is...since Death Scent is potentially dangerous to them and the GR is immune to the SB...so they send this message...the GR will definitely be against making the deal...

It depends on how dangerous they think Death Scent is, but since the Mafia have to take out everyone else to win the game, then at some point (and likely at many points), the GR will be on to them...but I feel like there should be more to it...still thinking...

Another possibility is that the Mafia think that keeping the Yakuza alive may be beneficial to them, which may be true...

And the whole Ninja/GR exchange in the intro bothers me...like the pig-letter thing in IV...maybe they're actually on the same side, i.e. the Ninja is a secret baddie or the GR is a secret innocent...

  9. To tell you the truth, after the last few games, I am terrified to say anything. Especially with the thoughts I have about the situation. All that's gonna happen is that people are gonna see my suspicious looking avatar and try to lynch me again. Plus I have info that I drew from the post which no one else has noticed, but I don't wanna share it, b/c then I'll be accused for that too! I think I'll wait for someone else to get the ball rolling this time. :)

Lol...umm...it's really not that hard to change your avatar...make it a bunny or something...maybe a guy with glasses (cuz we know no one who wears glasses can be evil...;P)

But seriously (and not nonsense), I've noticed a couple things about the post too...maybe different things, but I want to see how they play out before saying anything, since I think I can get more information that way...

But to get the ball rolling, it's highly unlikely that they know both the GR's identity and CL's identity (unless CL was Yakuza), and I think the SV's identity is something that the Mafia really do want to know, so thinking more about the Janitor possibilities...

  10. ysan: yeah the Janitor is like, invincible, unfindable, whatever, while cleaning :D

dusty: hmmm I did make it seem like that, didn't I? Lotsa things were happening at the same time...

So, if the Mafia target the Janitor while he's cleaning, what happens? Do you give them the message "he's cleaning, pick someone else", or does no one die that night?

And Tocenal, I'm not sure if you're confused or what...but the Mafia do want the SB dead, due to the SB's lie-detect ability and the fact that the SB can be pretty comfortable in coming out with his/her...

I just had another thought...hmmm...will see what happens and share later ;P.

  11. Wow, what a longgggg night...O_o

Greetings from the Mafia! How’s everyone doing? Hopefully better than Cherry Lane! :P

We have a few things that we want done. Obviously there WILL be problems, IF our demands are not met.

1st- Strangely enough, we figured out who the GR is on the first night! Heck, we may even throw in a Yakuza!

2nd- If you do NOT lynch the SB, then not only will the GR live, but we will kill the SV along with another innocent, AND the GR will kill, AND the Yakuza, AND we will give a target for the QAs to meet up. TRUST US, this is in everyone’s best interest!

3rd- To the SV. Please PM ASAP! There are three things we would like from you.

    - Every detail about what the Janitor did last night.

    - The role of the person that died last night.

    - Your identity (this is the best thing for us all, that way we don’t accidentally kill you!) :P

*Remember, if you lie to us, EVEN ONCE… you’re dead IMMEDIATELY. BTW, we have a question here, which will determine whether you are lying or telling the truth. So play it safe and tell us the truth. We can place a question to which we know the answer or we can just leave it at that.

4th- This is supposed to be the part where we announce to you who we are going to kill tomorrow night. Good news! We have decided against it at this point b/c we do not know who the SV is, and we don’t want to hurt our little buddy.

**I know everyone is now thinking, “Why should be believe that they will actually give us the GR?” good question. Because the Mafia deals in favors, you scratch our backs we scratch yours. If you take care of this for us, we’ll stick to our word and work out another deal for the following day. Maybe a QA if we find one, or maybe a Yakuza.

-Remember, you are buying protection from these other baddies. As long as you keep paying us, you'll have less to worry about. Make a choice: Do you want Mafia/GR/Yakuza AND QA's combined on your back? or only the Mafia? If you trust us, it will be the latter. So choose wisely and help us.

-Also Remember- "If the SB is lynched, they'll be PMed a prompt if they want to blow someone up at the lynching, otherwise it's a normal lynching." The innocents do not have to worry about being blown up when the SB is lynched, unless Tolecnal seriously wants to risk killing a fellow innocent.

Hmmm...it sounds like the mafia have thought about this very thoroughly...

And, I agree, condition 3 bothers me...I think they could have been lucky and gotten the GR on their first Godfather pick, but they also claim to know one of the others...my first thought was that CL may have been Yakuza, since the only identities they know besides the SB are the Yakuza...

But, the "every detail" about the Janitor bothers me...maybe the Mafia know some detail about what the Janitor did...

    * Janitor - [knows who Ninja is] the Janitor, after his/her many years of watching and learning, has adopted many vital skills. Each night, I roll a 6-sided dice to determine the action of the Janitor (Saving, Killing, Eavesdropping (pick three people and get told which two of them have BTSC, if none of them have BTSC, or if all three have BTSC), Discovering (just like Spy), Cleaning (the Janitor is off cleaning and nobody can find him/her to kill), or free choice of the previous 5 if a 6 is rolled). The Janitor picks a person other than themself and then I tell them what the action is, to which they can either decline or carry out the action (or choose the action to carry out, if I rolled a 6). Also, the Janitor doesn't have much possessions or ID and thus the Thief cannot steal from them (the steal fails, but counts as a use, but the Mafia learn the identity of the Janitor of course) or frame them (same deal)

I'm confused about "cleaning"...does the faction trying to kill him/her find out and get to choose someone else?

Well, we have plenty of time to think about this...

Gotta go, be back after work.

  12. I always found it easier to read, harder to manipulate people in person actually. Though you'd probably have an advantage in the manipulation department being female, hehe. :P

Hehe...but actually, I found it easier to manipulate because I could gage their reactions as I was going along, so if I adapt quickly to be the most effective. ;)

Oh, and I've officially nicknamed you Aizen :P

  13. We used to play Mafia sometimes in college at parties when we had a large group of people. We used a deck of cards to determine the roles. If you got a red card you were innocent, black card meant mafia, selected from a subset of the deck that was arranged to have the right ratio of black to red. There weren't as many unique roles and the storytelling wasn't as interesting as it is here on Brainden. A lot of the times you would just end up as a regular innocent with no special role or anything other than to vote for someone you thought was mafia. If the mafia killed you during the night, the moderator would just say, "Bob, the mafia shot you during the night, you're dead." On the plus side, the games went much faster... usually around two hours depending on the number of people, and it got rather interesting the times we played with a rule that if you got killed you had to do 2 shots. :P

Never did the Assassins thing but it sounds like it could be fun.

Yeah, I played that form of Mafia too...hehe, I thought the plus side was that it was easier to manipulate people in person...:P

  14. Yoruichi is correct, but hasn't covered all of what problem 1 is saying (there is still a significant piece missing). Maybe this was deliberate, and she has the answer but is letting you guys find it. In any case the following revamp may help you out a little.

    1. The omen of a cross over a cross yields infinite strife, yet as the crosses approach the empty void, it appears to approach a great unity.

    Yeah, actually...

since I noticed you used "omen" the same way I did...hence the hints about how you weaved the story better than I did ;P

I'm not going to post answers...but I may post hints to help ppl ;P

  15. ohhhh yeahhhh....I've got some unfinished business

Haha...uh oh, okay if I die the first night, CL is Mafia! XP

    yeah I've heard that's a great college game ;D

Yeah...it was, we played it in teams of 3 for our dorm...I scored highest kills (hehe) by far...I would camp out for people while doing my homework...just to show you that you can be a skilled assassin and get your degree at a very difficult college at the same time! ;P

  16. Haha, thanks for avenging me, guys ;P! I knew Mekal was the last QA as soon as he immediately went after Tocenol on the day vote...(I think he had pretty much given up at that point)

And I had Dawh pegged as the Shaman due to his response to my comment about the Shaman...hehe :P

And CP, did you notice my very subtle "Choose wisely, Penguin ;)"

And CL, actually, since Dawh and I both had you pegged, you would have been lynched the next day...(or Ninja-ed the next night) had I survived.

And yeah, I totally knew the QA would come after me (hence my subtle hints to the "capable Healer" ;P)...it was the best strategy for getting rid of the GR if he/she didn't know who the GR was...kill the Ninja (if the Defender's dead)...and I didn't think anyone was *that* much of a noob so I figured he/she was pretending, which is one of the reasons why I initially thought I-san was a QA...plus why break the pattern? Oh well, at least now I can say I was a QA target every night...XP

And Slick, *sniff* and here I thought we were friends...you left me in my time of need...T_T...hehe, jk, like I said, it was already in the bag for the Innocents.

And last but not least, Frost, great job as Host God!

  17. Question time : Who is Chad? Bud? Aizen? XP ? I have alot more but, these are particularly, peculiar, presently. Maybe, thats why I get lost here. I'm not hep with you youngins'.:wacko::wacko:

Haha...sorry, but the ghost will answer the questions: Chad and Aizen are characters from Bleach (anime/manga). By "Bud" I think Bb was just using the slang for friend. XP is a smiley that is a combination of :P with, like, X_X, i.e. dying but sticking your tongue out ;P, (just like my signature ";P" is a combination of ;) and :P, winking and sticking your tongue out)

  18. you're joining, right Ysan? :P RIGHT???? lol

    Host: Unreality

    1) GC - invincible first night

    2) Frozen

    3) Frost

    4) Brandonb

    5) Dawh

    6) Ysan

    7)

Frost: kinda complicated reasons... basically, Ninja has a chance of getting some info. And coordinate with Janitor a bit. And since Inspector/SB btsc was removed (for a veeery good reason) I wanted to add another one. Bb pointed out that the Ins/SB contact was flawed btw, credit to him :D

Lol...silly me, and here I thought it was my choice whether I was playing or not...;P

And, yeah, I like the idea of the Ninja/Janitor btsc...Bb and I are (or were until I DIED WHILE TAGGING THE GRrrrr *pout*) working well together, but not in a way that was overpowering to the baddies...

  19. Plus, you original hint was fantastic. Perfectly cloaked in some acquired knowledge AND logic

Okay, exceeding my ghost post limit, I know, but I have to say, I agree...but Aizen did turn out to be a baddie...were you actually the secret baddie in this one? hehe XP

  20. I just died after figuring out who the GR was...LMAO...well, those QAs really took it Unreality's advice about being persistent seriously ;P

Sorry, okay, done venting about Mafia V now...I want to play VI but this is distracting me from what I'm suppose to be doing... -_- ....grrrrr (lol, or perhaps I'm actually feeling GRrrrrr ;P)

  21. GAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.......lol, and I was just compiling these:

OK, I know it is WAY too late to be brining up new things, but I need to pose a question - give you all something to mull over - maybe it will be applicable in tomorrow's lynch. We've been discussing what the security at Bbs house might mean - to some it means he's an innocent, to others it says baddie. But what about Y-san? At her house the QA was scared away by loud noises. We can learn a few things from this. First, what about the QA makes him/her such a scaredy-cat? And, possibly more importantly, what was Y-san doing to cause the loud noises? I haven't been able to put a role with this one yet. Any ideas, folks?

    edit: typo

How would that fit with the noises? Practicing ninja stuff? I fell like there's gotta be something better.

(assuming we're moving forward with the game in some fasion:)

Well, PG was on and didn't respond to this, so I guess I'll have to vote for her. ;)

But her defense is sound (not necessarily the ML thing, but the other part). While lynching a baddie is a good thing, it is important to remember there is a time and place for everyone. I don't know what kind of baddie PG is, but I suspect she's mafia (I thought that before her comment, but I don't remember why; maybe it was in a post somewhere). And what we need to focus on is eliminating the QAs. Why? because they are a more imminent threat to Innocent victory. Mafia need to kill of everyone else, QAs just need to get rid of one target. So they are always closer to victory. That's who we need to go after.

Unfortunately, I don't have much idea who the QAs are. Well, I have a little idea, but I'm not confident enough at this time to come out with it. If anyone else can propose/justify a name, I'd love to hear it.

edit: I really need to learn to type more accurately!

Sorry, crazyP, but your vote did not influence mine. I had my own reasons for thinking Mekal is QA. Of course if he's going to be dead due to inactivity then there's no reason to lynch him, though. LIS is not QA. He may be mafia or GR or innocent, I haven't determined yet.

Well then you should reconsider your vote. While Y-san is pretty sure he is a QA, I'm pretty sure he isn't. Look at who the other 2 QAs are (were) and you'll know why.

Whimper...*sniff*...I have to say: if only I had an Aurora...;P

Oh well, at least the GR didn't win...good luck to you all! I suppose my sacrifice was worth it...

Edit: Sorry, end of my ghost post, I promise ;P, I considered that the QA would come for me, since 4th time's the charm and all :P, but actually, it's not that bad that I died (don't feel too bad about it, Healer :))...it was a good way of removing the GR from the game and since there's only one QA left you don't really need a Ninja...just keep in mind that the last QA could be the MoD...;)
