the group approaches an impressive looking manta. he has several rings pierced along his sides. "your majesty. i present to you, the travelers."

framm notices several pockets of manta rays. one group in particular seems excited. he manages to over hear the following: "i'm telling you, the kings plan will work. its crazy; but those bastards will never expect it!" "we may lose our homes in the process." "ha, haven't we done so already?"

this above paradox reminds me of an episode of samari jack, where this two headed beast poses the classic liar-truth-teller puzzler. "one of us tells only truths" one head says; "while the other only lies" the other head says; "with one question" one of the heads says "can you determine the truth telling head?" the other completes. the samari makes what i feel to be the correct argument, the beast itself cannot pose this question with it being a contradiction. either both heads are honest, or more likely both heads are deceptive.

with the mantas in the lead, the group slowly, carefully make their way to the refuge camp. the lead manta finnally points ahead. "there, not much further now." the group is brought in, with the manta in the lead gesturing to the travelers to follow.

"the refuge camp isn't very far, perhaps half a mile. as to how long untill the become passive again, ussualy 15-20 minutes." "we'll still need to be very quiet of course."

knowing it isn't going to be fed today, the gaint frog begins burrowing itself back underground, to await the next sounds.

one of the creatures uncovers itself to get a better angle at its prey. it looks like a giant frog, with fangs. with careful tuning, it's tungue manages to graze the end of mki's tail as she swims upwards. fortunately, it doesnt have enough surface area to stick.

framm manages to pull miki free, but, another tongue fires at loki, just barely missing.

as miki speaks, a long tunglike thing come from the ground and latches on to miki's rump. it begins to drag her down.
