Redirect means that your target is changed. Not that you don't act.

mew could be anyone. Keep in mind that players don't have to act. Baddies might have withheld their trap to frame whomever Mario blocked. So mew could have been CoD too.

Depends on the state of the game. A baddie could be looking for you or a goodie might be trying to hide behind your role. Try to judge who has the most to gain by claiming your role. If the baddies have a spy they might be trying to claim your role right before taking you out but they are more likely to claim it after taking you out. In this case since flame was already in trouble I might guess that he was making a last ditch effort to save himself AND trying to find out who was actually that role. If his claim saved him great if not then his getting you to counter gets the baddies some more info. Not necessarily bad that you did counter, just wait to see how it plays out. While trying to win just remember to try to have some fun too.

Maybe I'm a baddie toying with the goodies. Surely I can't really be this bold as a baddie. Or maybe I'm a goodie trying to get the baddies to consider keeping around and talking. Or maybe I'm a goodie trying to make you all paranoid since I believe that is the correct way to play mafia. Or maybe I'm actually the host pulling all the strings. It's funner with minimal outing and when the outing that is done is questionable. And you assume that all the goodies would tell the truth if everyone was to reveal their roles. I for one would lie as a matter of principle.

Right. Chad counter claiming flame's role claim could be cover. When they saw that it wasn't likely to save flame they could have switched to another baddie thinking it might be more believable. Even I could be a baddie. I was even talking about a baddie self kill earlier. I could have gambled on getting a save and pointed the NK at me to make me appear good. Risky yes but I've done crazy things in previous games.

but but one of those on your list claimed a goodie role that no one has countered. How do we know tol and smoth are goodies? If baddies spied maurice the same night the killed him they might know he was Falco. Then tol could pretend to be the goodie spy and throw flame under the bus to appear to be goodie. His vouch for smoth could either be cover for smoth or add to his claim of being the goodie. Notice that he didn't say which role smoth was just that smoth was trustworthy. I just don't know!
