Apply the popular interpretation of Occam's razor and my role shall be revealed Cheers!

Your statement is only true if I am innocent though... Are you telling the world that I am innocent?
-
Defensive? Not really. Give me until daybreak (which I have anyway unless I am killed at night) to explain my comments

I think I am in danger, but I an hoping (and not asking) the doc protects me. From the different perspectives, My chain of thought - Doc should save me because Doc: "KOP has a >50% chance of being innocent just like everyone else. If he is inno, he is the one in most danger" I am in most danger because Mafia: "KOP called out the Grim Reaper. He's got the innocents on his side for now and it will be difficult to eliminate him by lynching. He is also pretty loose with throwing accusations around and people might believe him more now than before since he was right the first time." Other innocents: "KOP looks like he's in the most danger which means mafia might target someone else since they anticipate the doc saving KOP. Hope it's not me!" I think the doc should save me for logical reasons (i.e. not just wanting to stay alive) which I shall explain tomorrow if I am alive. Cheers! -- Vig

I am just describing what happened to me in the early part of the night I hope it's ok with unreality

In the dark of night, I am out for a stroll an hour before midnight... Whistling my way to the Golden Dragon, I pick up my order that I'd called in earlier with and find a nice cozy bench to have some steaming steamed rice with a side of chicken named after some province in China... After I am done, I'm walking back and all fo a sudden, I don't feel so good. I start feeling dizzy and collapse to the ground. Next thing I know, I am in a spotless, white room and this angelic face is looking at me. I must be in heaven... She says "I am not sure how to pronounce your last name, but you are in the Awespital and have been treated for a severe allergic reaction to something you likely ingested" ... I mumble "I had some Chinese..." She is very pretty, so I start chatting her up and she doesn't seem too busy either, and we are talking about our past and about music we like when suddenly she asks... "When you were unconscious, you were repeatedly saying 'Doctor, save me' over and over again... Why?"... I am shocked and I stutter "I ... umm .. err... maybe it was some sort of a defense mechanism..." Our flirtatious encounter comes to a screeching halt at about 2 in the AM. I start thinking to myself "Why would I want a doctor to save me? Save me from what? Perhaps I am just worried that the mafia who killed that guy last night might see me as a threat after I identified the Grim Reaper as a shady character... Maybe the doctor will indeed save me tonight, but then again, he may not. Will the mafia come after me?". Albeit fitfully, I try to sleep and I see that it is a quarter to 3 ... I start thinking about my house mortgage and the new desk I just got last week at my job...and flowers.....and raindrops.......ZZZZZ

There is a song about this in an Indian movie which is hilarious owing to poorly written lyrics... The verse and bridge are all very philosophical and then the chorus arrives which m,akes you go "huh?!?!?" ... Here's a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGbC42qc5gg I'll translate for you as literally as possible... VERSE (x2): The tomorrow that is to arrive is just a dream... The yesterday that went by is ours to keep... BRIDGE: We live in the yesterdays gone by... CHORUS: The fireflies of our memories live in the jungle... (what the heck???!?!?!?)

I am sure they don't mind - if they're not proud (on the inside after grounding you) Bring them with you! Ok... never mind then... the rest of us with black ties can meet ) But yeah, I do think it is extremely unsafe to go around meeting random strangers on the internet. Even unassuming and/or famous people (like Hans Reiser) could be potentially dangerous to meet with. Cheers! -- Vig

That sounds like the answer to a puzzle! You're in the right place after all

As to me not referring to myself, I think it is pretty much a no no to explicitly say you're are an innocent. Just like that movie "Presumed Innocent"where Ford says "you never tell your lawyer that you're innocent" or something to that effect. Anyone who explicitly claims innocence is either very naive or extremely good at this game. I am neither

Hi I'm kingofpain... as you can see, I was one of Brainden's OLD members on the forum. I kinda lost track of Brainden in my last 2 sems finishing my Bachelors in Dec (doing 8 courses in my last sem ) and then starting a Masters in Jan (both in Mech Engg). I like to work with computers and I find the intersection of computer science and engineering appealing (and I think it's the next best thing). I'm also far left wing and I pounced on the opportunity to work in sustainability so my research topic revolves around how to make CAD software and other engineering software more environmentally aware and to integrate sustainable concepts into CAD software. If I end up being a financially successful software architect/consultant at a big CAD firm, I might just be the first cross of a hippie and a yuppie !! Yippie!! I love cricket, soccer and F1 and feel left out in typical sporting conversations in the US. I am in Atlanta,GA and I go to Ga Tech. I also sing a LOT and some people like it a lot and others don't mind it, so I plan to keep singing until I am a nuisance at which point I'll plateau... I love classic rock and my favourite band is The Police followed by Led Zeppelin... I also listen to Soundgarden,AIC and Pearl Jam outside of classic rock. Here's a link to my userpage on Youtube... There are a couple of cool engg projects and a couple songs... As far as the songs go, tell me if you likey although I must warn you the quality is piss poor coz I used a computer mic If you don't like it, you can tell me if you think I am a public hazard, but otherwise, criticize positively ) http://www.youtube.com/user/viggyjiggy Lastly, I am fairly philosophical about most things in life. I consider myself an atheist and am contemptuous of overly (and overtly) religious people. I am simultaneously jealous of people who are highly spiritual since their descriptions of their lives makes it seem a lot fuller and more wholesome. I hope one day I have the experience of believing fully in a personal God or supernatural being since I think it adds a lot to your life. I am not 'trying' to do that since I think TRYING to be spiritual is delusional. For those confused by the seemingly contradictory statements above I think religious is going to place of worship regularly and obeying rules and rituals of organized religion while spirituality is faith and belief in something not proven without any desire to demand proof since you believe. Although spirituality seems like circular logic to me and some others, enough people manage to pull it off and they seem to live less existentially challenging lives.

What you said about Mensa can be said about any club (most of which are much more expensive). Mensa is neither as highly selective as people make it out to be nor is it as snobbish as others think (almost all Mensans understand that IQ has no practical importance). And guess what, it's much better than giving money to a religious organization! Edit: I took the actual (proctored) test from where I cited my 99.9+% result and became a member before I had access to the internet. The online test cannot really exaggerate your score since your IQ scores mean nothing at all. In my case, I didn't do as well online as I did on the pencil and paper test which was 3 hours long. All these tests do is to put you in a rough ballpark. There's no reason to badmouth an organization that selects it's members based on a written test. There are far more selective clubs. Cheers! -- Vig

Two thoughts: A) Assuming the 'flawless' part, all it would require for justifying the arrest is a change to the legislature which will definitely come before the executive branch (cops) start arresting people for crimes not committed. Arrest being a punishment for crimes committed is such a commonly accepted social procedure that we do not question it's motive. The motive is to be a deterrent to the crime to reduce future crimes in addition to being a form of punishment or even revenge by society. Apart from social acceptance, there is not much difference between arrest for crimes committed versus crimes that are definitely going to be committed. B) Other way to look at this is that the flawless assumption is impossible since the arrest prevents the crime which by definition makes the future seeing powers flawed. But if it is assumed flawless in the sense of the movie where that is the future until the specific legal action of arrest is performed, then argument A above applies. Cheers! -- Vig

My cricket question was moved from New Puzzles to Others by a moderator because it required specific knowledge of a sport. I figured the same would apply to this question... Cheers! -- Vig
