no sorry, not either. my last response to you was regarding one of the qualities of the "closest" of your last three and my guess as to how that came to you from the riddle. always hesitant to say too much for fear that it might mislead. hope this is not the case.

Plainglazed, I love the way your writing flows. Great riddle. OK! a really great answer. Hadnt thought of that but like the way it fits. Your decision to "read this quite literally" is a very good one. And thanks for the compliment.

Hey tiger, not the answer and sorry about the lacking punctuation. Would say you could put a comma at the end of each long (odd) line and a period at the end of each short indented line. So there are really just five lines. The very last line is not really a clue. Maybe then will read a little better.

OK, usually dont do this but have no confidence in my following guess. Motivated by my appreciation of the riddle and desire to let you know I'm still brewing over these two. My next will be better. Gotta work for now. The nerve.

this different direction is better. dont know why and not really relevent to the answer but in the right flavor. I hope that makes more sense than it misleads.

It was meant to be. Some wording has common meaning meant to throw you off. There should be enough there to reveal the answer. Definitely a different direction. Always like to encourage those. This time it did not pay off.

Again not it. All these great guesses make me worry I've left this too broad. Suspect your advice would be to let it go a little longer before adding lines or hints. That may test my patience though. (no hints in that long winded response)
