Yeah, wrong. That's a quality of the answer but not the answer. And tho I really do not perscribe to the rule that the answer is not in the body of the riddle, most do and that word is.

Yeah, that's one of the qualities my answer has so that definition is known.so not like something you would throw to a dog, or to puncture, or a cane, or a manual transmision, or something protuding. probably not much help....

Dont think these have been guessed so you can guess they're not it. Sorry please keep at it. Thanks to you I have let this one go. Have found renewed cofidence from really inciteful guesses. Still think this one's a little oblique but there's definitely one good answer y'all are going to get. Trying different definitions of some of the key words (nouns) like you did above and some others have, along with Tiger's literal approach may be helpful.
