    Hey you children, play nice!
  2. Izzy

Woots! Are we done? Do we all get to giggle like small school children and pretend we're sitting in a circle yet?

I'll be in Germany from the 20th 'til the 1st. I'll *most likely* have internet, but we're staying at some ski resort, so I'm not sure.. *edit* Typo
  4. Alrighty, so I'm way behind on this, but I've finally had some spare time to sit down and read God:The Failed Hypothesis. It had its good and interesting parts, (which I bookmarked with sticky notes ), but there was a lot of the author just citing other books, which was annoying. Probably one of my favorite series of quotes of all time: Evan Fales on the hiddenness of God: "Some apologists tell us that God remains hidden from us so as not to coerce worship. But God is not hiding out of solicitude for our freedom. We have not forgotten Job: therefore we understand that God is hiding out of cowardice. God is hiding because He has too much too hide. We do not seek burning bushes or a pillar of smoke. No - we wish to see God. Can God stand before us? Can god see the face of suffering humanity - and live?" Victor Stenger in response to the above quote: "The existence of a God who hides himself from all but a selected elite cannot be totally ruled out. All I can say is that we have not one iota of evidence that he exists and, if he does exist, I personally want nothing to do with him. this is a possible god, but a hideous one."

I'm not sure how long these games usually last for, but I think January might be more convenient, with all the December holidays and stuff.

Lol. Getting some strange déjà vu from this though!

I think it's more of an Ice Age thing than anything. Mankind isn't doing much to help (with all the pollution and whatnot), but Global Warming would be happening right now whether mankind existed or not.

Oh, so it's enough for me to believe you because you've to seen/felt/blah your bed, but you won't take the word of the 1.3 billion people living in China? Do you see the problem here? And I don't want anyone turning my argument around. (To that because I've never experienced ghosts it means they don't exist.) I'm speaking of purely physical things here. If I wanted to, I could go see A. Person's bed, and if s/he wanted to, s/he could go to China.

Will everyone have normal and magic powers?
  15. Izzy

Haha, probably. I was just listing stuff I enjoyed as a kid. There used to be this show called Out-Of-The-Box on Nickelodeon (Disney Channel? One of those..) and they always did crafty things. Look up some YouTube videos.

What bed? With your logic, you have no bed. I've never come into contact with your bed, and albeit you have, I haven't, so it must not exist.

I'm trying not to say anything I would regret if a mod came by and read this. If you want to believe China doesn't really exist, fine by me. Let yourself look like an idiot. If you don't believe China exists, you might as well throw out everything else we have proof of that exists. Like the President, the war in Iraq, the rest of the world period, all the bands you listen to... Have you ever heard of the Allegory of the Cave? Google it if you haven't. Basically, you're acting like one of the people sitting in the darkness, refusing to believe that the world behind you is real. The world behind you is clearly real, but since you've never experienced it, it must not be, right? The thing that's really irritating though is that you and I both know you really believe in China.
  18. Izzy

    A. Person, I'm sorry, but you'd have to be pretty daft to even begin to state that we don't have any proof China exists. There's loads and loads and loads (and loads and loads) of evidence to suggest that it is there. World maps, Chinese food, satellite images, etc. etc. etc. There's no proof to prove that China doesn't exist because it does. Not to be rude or anything, but what were you thinking? To not believe in something you've never experienced with any of your senses and to say a country that is quite blatantly existent does not exist are two *way* different thing... <_<

Innocent until proven guilty? Unreal until proven there? Something along the lines of that. Okay, let's say, for the sake of my example, ghosts don't exist. You've never heard of them, neither have scientists. Scientists, on their own, have never discovered anything that would lead them to believe that anything supernatural exists. Therefore we continue never hearing the word "ghost". One day, some random person decides to make-up some story, about ghosts. After being passed around, scientists get word of it. They think it's absurd, because if anything is there, surely they would have found it first. Basically, people begin with the idea that nothing is there because nothing but a story says it's there in the first place. I would compare this to proving the existence of Santa Claus. Pretend for a moment you are a child. A young one, who does not yet know Santa isn't real. You can never make contact with him in any way, yet because your parents and others deceive you, you conclude that Santa is real. Is he? I'll leave you to answer that on your own, in case any little ones are reading. If Santa was created the same way ghosts were, as a story, shouldn't a sensible person come to the same conclusion in both cases?

Nah, I don't mean ether, something completely different. Just like, an invisible force that moves things.
