Question

Dead in a field lies the curled blue eyed with lips to match body of a BrainDen VIP - Itachi-san.

Not far lays a back pack, a fukiya (blow-gun for poisoned darts)a bow (ninja long-bow), perhaps once belonging to a Samurai. A high powered rifle also close by from which a single round was spent. A permit in his pocket is for coyote. Though the rumor was for Wood Bison, considered fare game in these parts - found in the northern snow and southern plane! Many still revel in it's name, no caricaturist makes it sound the same...This was By Lake Louise, the land of waterfalls and rock-walls

Soon on the scene are the LIS Angles PD finest ( and I do mean fine!).. Yoruichi-san, Puzzle girl and Kat. They quickly investigate the body and surrounding area. YS and Kat are perplexed, not like YS to be slow and Kat is just starting to scratch her head.... "Come on, no use getting our boots too mucky" said PG."Lets get a nice hot coffee and I'll tell you what happened". "Some arsenal he had" commented Y-san. "Well I only noticed the weapons" blushed Kat. Squelch, squelch squelch as they walked away.

So - What did PG have to say

Note that GSR was found on the late Itachi-san's hands

The most common answer for this problem is that the man fell from a height. The backpack is normally a parachute that failed to open. In this instance, perhaps he had been hunting with the rifle earlier and then fell while parachuting, or perhaps firing the rifle knocked him out of a plane/chopper or maybe even a tree stand

But the bow and the blowpipe!

He froze to death? That would explain the blue lips, and there's no explicit mention of wounds or otherwise.

The bow and the poison darts don't seem to make sense. I know they should have a part to play but I'm not sure what.

By no means a full answer, and blue lips have more than one reason for showing cyanosis - even a heart condition

Yes absence of wounds for sure.

He could have brought the rifle for the coyote and the other weapons perhaps for the wood bison, and there inclusion is only meant to draw you away from the real cause of death. He is a hunter--it makes sense for him to have hunting supplies, especially if he had been hunting in the Northern Snow. Maybe he found it barren of the bison, and was being transported to the Southern Plain when something occurred leading to his death (thus the blue lips from being in the mountains and then at such a high altitude)

I think it's clear he's been frozen. "Northern snow" and the "squish" of the footsteps would indicate a spring thaw, saturating the ground with moisture, making it soggy. Being frozen would also explain the blue lips.

The actual cause of death I can't determine, I can think of a few, but they aren't logical.

Let's try this....

Poisoned! This would explain the blue lips. Either he took a shot at an animal, but didn't allow for the recoil, and one of the poisoned darts wound up falling out of his backpack and he stepped on them/fell on them, or he missed the animal and reached into his pocket for another bullet, but pricked himself with a poisoned dart. Which isn't like Itachi-San at all, he'd be smart enough to carry an antidote with him if he's using poison....

Now what he was doing with all that weaponry is beyond me.... I mean, why would he need all that stuff if he was just out hunting coyotes?.... Unless....

Killed by rival ninja!

Poor Itachi! Now who will write BDs most confounding riddles?

he was a pre-historic man who was hunting wild game when the ice age hit and he was frozen solid...only to be unearthed and thawed millions of years later (like Encino Man or Un-frozen Caveman Lawyer!!)

Uh oh! That doesn't explain the Coyote permit on him...or the gun shot residue...or the Ninja bow.

Geesh, I guess I should have thought through my theory a little more before posting.

Anyhow, thanks for acknowledging my Fineness!

*Scatches head* (Sorry, couldn't resist  )

It's weird how some of it rhymes...wonder what that could mean, might be important.

~Kat

The rhyme bit you can forget, it refers to a 'what am I' that itachi-san did, and threw me a curved ball. As usual I dismiss a possible answer to his ridle when he posts a hint - Grrrr

Basically the facts of death as stated are correct, except that the poison darts where just part of 'protection if needed' so forget that; the bow was just for practice/meditational purposes.

the gun is a more important issue

for some reason I did not add notification of replies to this topic and I can't add it now??? So I'll try to keep an eye in it
