0 kingofpain
Only if you look young enough to be IDed for cigs. More importantly, who is gonna enforce this? The law will only prosecute a store for selling cigarettes to minors. They cannot prosecute a store for selling cigs to a person above 18 who wants to quit but wants to buy cigarettes as well. The store will proceed to sell cigarettes because that is profitable and will also help their customer relations by not alienating smokers. Interesting story: I once bought cigs at an airport and the lady at the counter refused to believe I was 18 when I showed her my driver's license. I then showed her my passport and she finally gave in. But her parting shot as I left : " You keep smoking and you not gonna look so young anymore!" 0 Guest
There is now way that could be enforced. If a smoker who is trying to quit is desperate enough, they just won't show the ID. The clerk isn't going to ask "Do you have an ID that won't allow you to buy cigs?" Having the ID does no good if they don't have the willpower to quit. 0 Guest
you can't get crack from a store, and people don't always get it from their friends, but people still do crack it won't work
0 Guest
I'm a smoker, and like all others wish I didn't. Nothing is going to stop me smoking except for me having the will to do it. It's not so much a question of will power but to stop believing the hype that it is too hard to stop and to reprogramme the brain that you aren't giving up anything. What's there to give up? Bad smell, bad breath, lack of energy, isolation from the majority of people when you're the only one outside in the wind trying to have a quick puff etc. The only thing you are losing over time is the need to scratch that nasty nicotine addiction. No, I just need to get all of that through my shrinking grey matter and I should be 3/4 of the way there!

It's either stop your self somehow or keep on smokin.
0 Brandonb
for ppl who want to stop smoking they could ask 4 a special id that wont let them buy cigs. and then just tell their fiends not to give them any. would that work to help ppl quit? Why not just not buy cigs? I someone gonna go to the counter of a gas station and say I want a pack of cigs, then pull out their ID? Or walk up to the clerk and (after buying gas or something) randomly say, "I will not be buying any cigarettes, good thing I have this ID." Clerks don't normally push cigarettes on people, there would be no reason to turn a clerk down with some ID. On the other side, people are the ones that ask to buy cigs. So if someone were to ask, why would they pull out the "special ID" and not a normal one?
0 Guest
So if someone were to ask, why would they pull out the "special ID" and not a normal one? I'd just assumed that they would take away the addict's normal ID so they'd only have the special ID
0 akaslickster
This new generation was not subjected or forced to breathe smoking as us middle-aged and older. Nowadays it's almost a crime but, when I was a kid, it was everyday living naturally and not a big to-do. So don't knock people who do not stop right away. At least they aren't meth heads.Ditto. It's either stop your self somehow or keep on smokin.

0 Guest
well, because the ID stops you from buying the cigarettes, if the urge overcomes you
