In my electricity and magnetism class, we learned about a famous physical law. My professor was excited to tell us that this was the title to this law contained the only word in the English language (that he knew of) that had a triple letter.

A hint: this law states that

I would guess teh  (the) because it is one of the most common words in the English language i.e. it has the most chances to be miss spelled. Either that or incorrectly because irony is quite amusing.

-A synonym is a word you use when you can't spell the word you first thought of.

By definition the only word in the English language that can be spelt incorrectly is 'incorrectly'. any other combination of letters does not spell 'incorrectly'.

Aaron Burr, you're right Irony can be pretty ironic!

I think the answer to the third one is "misspelled" - most people only use one "s"

There are two words with triple doubles That I know of :

Bookkeeper and Bookkeeping

I agree with Typewriter for the second noodler.

And, of course, it would have to be 'incorrectly' which is most ofen spelled incowrekedly.

Incorrectly is not spelled incorrectly. It is spelled "incorrectly".

In other words, the quotes make a difference. Since you didn't include quotes in your question, the answer should be the word that is most often misspelled.

Based on today's world of technology, I would say that "you" is most often spelled incorrectly ("u").

incorrectly is spelt incorrectly otherwise it would be a different word, in otherwords not a wrong spelling but the correct spelling!

Which word is most often spelled wrong, believe it or not it's w r o n g...

U is not wrong either, it is an accepted abrieviation. Punctuation on a busy forum is just par for the course for replies - but topics should be accurate.

A word of guidance:

When criticizing a puzzle, or insisting that one answer must be right,

or another answer can't be right, try to keep in mind exactly what a

puzzle is intended to be ...

It's in the nature of a puzzle to place an answer out of plain sight.

The puzzle solver's task is to determine where it could be, so long

as a provision of the problem is not explicitly violated.

In other words, don't treat a puzzle as if it were a blueprint or an

engineering specification; treat it as a challenge: find an answer.

If the OP were to have made it absolutely clear that the character string

i-n-c-o-r-r-e-c-t-l-y was meant instead of the word itself, there would be

no puzzle.

Now try this one:

Is one of the words in this sentence misspelled?

The dictionary would say No.

The puzzle maker would say Yes.

1)the dictionary would say everything is spelled correctly

2)the maker would say misspelled is a word in the sentence

3. have no clue but it would be a matter of opinion anyway.

As we see, the answer was a play on words. But even if the question were asking for the most misspelled word in English, it would not be a "matter of opinion." Something is not a matter of opinion simply because it is not verifiable.

Thanks for the support bonanova, The puzzle is just that a word play intended to be a little entertaining. Some people take their fun far too seriously.

In answer to your question the dictionary would say 'no' as all of the words are spelt correctly.

The puzzler would say 'yes' because one of the words in the sentence is misspelled (namely 'misspelled)
