0 Guest
She was going to visit his husband in jail... sentenced to death by the electric chair. The woman was running late. When she arrived at jail, the execution procedure was already set in motion and by the time she was halfway up in the escalator, the lights went off for a second and then resumed, meaning a dramatic surge in voltage. At this point, the woman knew his husband had just been executed. Very dramatic, but I think it works for an answer.
0 Guest
she turned around and saw him lying dead at the bottom of the escalator
0 Guest
I agree with the person above me but another possible solution he was on the top floor and died and his body fell down the escalator.
0 Thalia
Are we talking about an elevator or an escalator?
0 Guest
They were in the hospital, and he was on life support. The escalator stopped because the power failed, and she knew his life support had failed as well. (Although presumably in real life, critical support systems would have backup power?). 0 Guest
hmm... At the halfway point of the up escalator, the full view of the down escalator just next to it is exposed, perhaps he was there?
0 hhh3
as windows are mentioned, i ws thinking, are we talkin about elevator - escalator difference?? but it is no way related to death of her husband as far as i can think... but then again it is mentioned "she realised".... does that essentially mean she got the news then??? 0 Guest
Wonder if there is an original answer
0 Guest
she may have been lying on the husband's shoulder before his death. therefore - drop!
0 Guest
that she is in the hospital and her husband is on life support system which runs on electricity.
0 Guest
Well done Gihan, that's right. (and yes, they do have back up generators)
0 Guest
This was solved really quickly!
0 Guest
I don't think this riddle is quite a good one. As gihan pointed out, there are actually back up systems nowdays.
