0 dyalDragon
Thought I would try your rhyming answer if that's ok... In southern climes, winter is a bore, There's not much snow or ice. But if you wish to wage a war, Some pine cones will suffice. They sting like hell though

0 plasmid
For those unfamiliar with my style: my riddles are titled "I'm not a ____", and I make it appear like I'm describing what's in the title when actually the description is meant to fit something else entirely. So no snowballs, snow forts, or the like. a waterballoon....???? a bauble.....???? very conventional.... but i think..... maybe cookies....??? yum... You throw cookies around in fights?! I'm gonna have to pick a fight with you and open my mouth wide! A water balloon fits the first stanza well, but I'm looking for something that fits all four. Thought I would try your rhyming answer if that's ok... In southern climes, winter is a bore, There's not much snow or ice. But if you wish to wage a war, Some pine cones will suffice. They sting like hell though Nice rhyming, but like the water balloon, that seems to focus on the first stanza but not pick up on clues later on. Chess pawn? That could work for the first three stanzas, but I don't see any way to make it fit the fourth.

0 dyalDragon
Ok i have a feeling the rhyming answer is much more satisfying when it is the right one, so here goes.... Floating softly all around, the floor a winter wonderland. Feathered angels stand their ground, armed with trusty pillows in their hand. Indeed it is when you solve it in style, and so the thin lady with one of these tucked under her shirt sings. Edit: just adding some commentary I think a pillow has got to be it. More important than the number of guesses, THAT's what I think of as a sign of a good riddle. Edited October 17, 2009 by plasmid
Question
plasmid
A call to arms! A war's begun!
But shun the sword and the bow
I'm weapon wielded by the young
Adults unlikely to throw
The snow that falls from heaven's height
Amass and do it with haste
If not your ammo for a fight
I'll form your citadel's gates
Protect the king at any cost
Don't fail him should he fall down
For if you do then all is lost
That's why I'm guarding the crown
The thin man shakes, his belly sways
But this will not make him sick
I'm all a part of his displays
If he should dress as St. Nick
