Okay, here's the layout for DNM: Rematch (Yes, I know Naomi's not actually part of the Kira Investigation team in the series...but she's just a cool character ;P) Some changes: DNH don't know the Shinigami, only one DNH may have Shinigami Eyes at a time. Ryuk tweaked. Reduced L's chances by 10%. Gave Watari an one-use lynch saving ability. Added 1 DNH, 3 Task Force for a total of 16 players. DEATH NOTE MAFIA: Rematch The Death Note Holders win if all of the Task Force is dead. They cannot kill the Shinigami. The Death Note Holders have a total of 2 Death Notes and they know each other and are in communication. However, in order to kill someone, they must know their True Name. They can write one True Name of a player in each Death Note each night, they can choose whether the player will die that night or the night after. If they choose to write that the player dies the following night, they may "manipulate" the player by choosing who the player will vote for the next day. The vote will be changed secretly by me when I do the final tally. The DNH have priority, so they may choose to cancel the Night actions of the True Name written into a Death Note (after the reveal in L's and subsequently Mello's and Near's cases). The DNH may also choose to write the method of death, as along as it follows within the rules of the Death Note. Light: Holds a Death Note. If Misa and Mikami both die, any night, he may choose to trade for the Shinigami Eyes, which allow their owner to see the True Name of one player each night. However, the trade is half of his remaining life...that is, there will be a 50% chance of his identity being revealed in the Night Post every night starting from the night the trade is made. Misa: Holds a Death Note. Is known by Rem. She starts out with the Shinigami Eyes, so there is a 50% chance of her identity being revealed in every Night Post except the 1st one. Misa can not be lynched as long as Rem is alive. If Misa wins the lynch vote then Rem will step in and save her by writing the name of L, or a Task Force Member of Rem's choosing, in his Death Note, which results in Rem's death as well. Mikami: He worships Kira as God. He will do anything for his God, including making the trade for Shinigami Eyes if Misa dies before him. If Misa or Light dies before him, he gains hold of a Death Note. The Shinigami each have their own Death Note. However, they must choose wisely whether or not to use them. They have Shinigami Eyes because they are Shinigami and hence did not have to do the trade. Each night each of them choose someone to see the true name of with their Shinigami Eyes. Ryuk can kill on even nights and Rem can kill on odd nights, except the first one. The DNH have priority, they write the names of their chosen victims first, so if the Shinigami choose a person that the DNH have already written, the Shinigami Death Note is ineffective. They also each have their own win condition. Ryuk is in it for his own amusement while Rem is in love with Misa. Cannot kill the DNH. Ryuk: Wins if he is able to be the one to end Light's life by writing Light's name in his Death Note. There are two ways he can do this: (1) if he and Light are the only ones left alive he will write Light's name in his Death Note and kill him or (2) if Light is lynched and Ryuk is still in the game, Ryuk will write Light's name in his Death Note instead. He knows the identity of Light. Rem: Wins if Misa is alive at the end of the game. Knows Misa, and Misa cannot be lynched while Rem is alive. If Misa wins the lynch vote then Rem will step in and save her by writing the name of L, or a Task Force member of Rem's choosing if L is dead, in his Death Note, which results in Rem's death as well. The Task Force wins if the Death Note Holders and the Shinigami are dead/gone. Here are their True Names: L: A resourceful and intelligent person, he has a plethora of abilities at his disposal. He may choose one action or none each Night. However, since this is a game for their lives, each ability comes with a risk, that is, a % chance that his identity will be revealed to the Death Note Holders secretly that Night(he does not know): See True Name of a player - 80% chance of being revealed. See the last vote of a role – 60% chance of being revealed. See action last taken by a role – 40% chance of being revealed. Get a random Task Force Member name – 20% chance of being revealed. Watari: L's retainer. Privy to L's secrets, including L's identity. Acts as L's public face. As long as Watari is alive, L may PM me a message to put in the Night Post. Once in the entire game, Watari may use his influence to save one person from being lynched. Must PM me before the Day ends. Naomi Misori: Armed with the information he left her, she seeks justice for her fiancé who was killed by Kira. Every Day she receives information from one who was killed by Kira. After every Night Post and before the end of the Day the players died by having the DNH write their names in a Death Note may PM me a message to send to Naomi. If more than one player is killed by the DNH in the Night Post, then she chooses which one to receive a message from. Chief Yagami: Once held a Death Note. May choose at any time to trade for Shinigami eyes, which will allow him to see the True Name of a player every night, however, there is a 50% chance his identity will be revealed in the Night Post every night from the Night the trade is made. Aizawa: He is a wary individual. He can lay little "traps". Each Night he chooses a player to "trap" by guessing who that player will vote for in the Day. If his guess is correct, then the "trap" is sprung and he learns the True Name of the player. Matsuda: He is bright-eyed and optimistic and naïve…just the kind of person the Shinigami can't stand. He can choose one player a night to give an apple to and if that person is chosen by a Shinigami to kill that night the Shinigami will eat the apple instead and the player will be saved. Mogi: Strong, quiet, and reserved, he is highly skilled at tailing. Every Day he may choose a player to follow for the coming Night (must PM me before the Day Post), and if they die that Night he will learn the name of the player who wrote them into their Death Note. Cannot follow the same person two Nights in a row. Aiber: A professional con-man who works for L. Every night he can choose to disguise himself as another player. If he is checked by the Shinigami Eyes, he appears as the True Name of that player. Wedy: A former thief in the hire of L, she has a knack for planting bugs. Every Day she may choose two True Names to facilitate contact between the following Night, i.e. one True Name may PM me a message which I will PM to the True Name. Wedy chooses which True Name is to send the PM and which True Name is to receive it. Mellow and Near: they are L's successors. As long as L is alive, they have no abilities. Once L dies, they each inherit L's abilities. However, since they can surpass L when they work together, if both choose the same ability and same target the chance of being revealed gets cut in half for each, otherwise the chance to be revealed is the same as for L.

Ah...the he was not in the keyhole...and the magnet part was right...just not the kind of magnet...you wouldn't want to be walking around a ball with a powerful magnet in your pocket...;P
-
Lol...no...it's the same puzzle...part of the puzzle if finding the puzzle...;P Good job Sir Alan! And like indigo thing was like "aunts" And the hint is referring to the mathematical trace of a matrix...yep, another math hint...hehe
-
One of my favorite literary works of all time...its value spans across time and cultures! The what word the sounds to color acronym For famous my for masculine like smell between Blue the city mom's happens pronoun D bad Can and well-known where brothers' more in or F also violet company the wives than its Normal sometimes be middle that vatican are intermittantly Shortened singular when said letters makes is to Me version form used to reversed windows located
-
Actually, there was no specialty magnet involved...what was used could be found in most ppl's garages...;P
-
Umm...okay, cool...but you're still missing one part...my edit gives you a hint ;P
-
Nope, not quite...but close...read my previous reply to Andromeda ;P
-
Very very close...but remember, it explicitly states that the door was locked from the inside...and keys can't go through keyholes ;P It's an on/off difference...
-
Yeah...it's a very commonly used phrase actually...lol...I didn't even notice. You're very observant . But Sinistral had the right sentence...;P
-
? Lol...did he say that? It's just a coincidence...;P
-
Haha! That's great and really creative...but about the meatballs... Well, assuming that the lock is at normal height, if her body were propped against the door her hand would be on the ground next to the door...so the gun would be next to the door and when the police opened the door it would knock the gun away... But it's a good idea...I'll be sure to keep my eye out for news of some murder committed that way...;P
-
Wow...that's a good one ...but no, the body will was not in that position, and the gun was found next to her hand, so it had to be put in position while the body was already on the floor. Nope. There's a hint in something Trick said...;P
-
No, it's a normal lock, except that the key and the keyhole is slightly larger than normal.
-
Lol...welcome back LIS... And no, the key cannot go through the keyhole, it goes in the keyhole. Like all keys, the part inserted in the keyhole fits the keyhole exactly and the rest is larger than the keyhole. And as the OP states, the door was locked from the inside, and the manager's key was not used.
-
Yep...the second hint was referring the the fact that after you get the two answer "vectors" (one for across, one for down), you have to take their "dot product"...hey, it's my special ability, after all ;P Yep, good job to all, especially flinchum for finding the twist so quickly! And CL, reading the "notoriously befuddling" puts a huge smile on my face . It's not the destination, it's the journey ;P. They are . You should join my next one!

Redrum University was hosting its annual Fall Ball in the Great Ballroom of the Grand Iose Hotel. Y-san, who was not really a fan of dances (not counting DDR ;P), had decided to attend that year because she heard the catering that year would be done by a four-star chef and her gourmand side had overpowered her cynical-about-dressing-up-and-prancing-around side. As Y-san stood at the buffet table, stuffing her 21st (or was it 22nd? She had lost count) meatball into her mouth when she felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned around and almost choked at who she saw standing there. The handsome face was familiar...too familiar. It was Patrick "Trick" Moriarty. Y-san swallowed hard and then asked in a skeptical tone, "What are you doing here? Aren't the authorities still looking for you for that last murder you committed?" "Oh, they probably are, but it doesn't matter...they'll never catch me. And I just had to see you again. Last time we met, I felt such a strange attraction to you." Trick gave her an artful grin and winked at her. "But enough about me, what about you? How have you been all these months since I've last seen you? Where's your date?" Y-san shrugged. "No date...some guys asked me but none of them could solve the puzzle I gave them in reply, so I rejected them. And to be honest, it's been kind of boring lately...haven't found a dead body in quite a while..." A piercing scream interrupted her sentence. The music stopped and a man ran down the gilded grand staircase in a frenzy. Y-san sighed and muttered, "Nevermind..." The body belonged to the pop star known as Misa Misa to her fans. She liked to dress in gothic styles and there were rumors that she was involved with the criminal organization known as IETNAT. But there was no real evidence to corroborate any connection. Misa's body had been found in the foyer of the President's Suite, next to the door. Her keychain was attached to a band that was looped around her belt and was found lying on the floor. The door had been locked from the inside and the window was locked and bolted. It was an old building, so the metal key and keyhole were relatively large and round, and there was no way to lock the door without the key in the lock. The only other key to the room was with the hotel manager, and no one could have got to it. The cause of death was a single gunshot to the head, in the left temple. The gun had been found lying next to her left hand. Police Chief Leroy shook his head vigorously. "I can't believe it. These stars and their mood swings. One second they're on top of the world, the next they're suicidal. And I had just bought her latest album..." Looking up to see the bemused look on Y-san's face, he quickly added "...for my daughter, that is, she's a fan, a huge fan." "That is not true." Y-san stated plainly. The Police Chief's face reddened and he stammered, "Uh, what do you mean, of course it's true! It's not like I would be interested in these pop stars or anything..." Y-san shook her head, suppressing a grin. "That's not what I meant. I meant that it's not a suicide. It was murder." At these words, the Police Chief ceased his bustling and frowned. "But it was a locked room. The door was locked from the inside and the key was attached to the victim..." This time Y-san did smile, and the Police Chief sighed in defeat. "Okay, okay...how did he do it?"

To set the mood: Morpheus: "I know *exactly* what you mean. Let me tell you why you're here. You're here because you know something. What you know you can't explain, but you feel it. You've felt it your entire life, that there's something wrong with the world. You don't know what it is, but it's there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad. It is this feeling that has brought you to me. Do you know what I'm talking about?" Lol...while I disagree with Itachi about Peter's acting , I do agree that it's getting muddled again...and there are too many super-super-powered characters that make the rest of the characters look boring. And with the addition of the power-giving serum and Peter's father the power stealer, it looks kinda like they're going to be tossing powers back and forth...(lol...visions of Mr. Petrelli playing keep-away with Peter flashing in my mind)...which is not very promising. I for one hope Peter gets his powers back and uses them like the future Peter in season 1 did...that guy was awesome .
-
No...you were just the one who wrote his speeches for him ...and hid out in the Mafia Safehouse
-
Yeah, you're right...sorry...but thanks for trying your best . For Rematch I'm making it so that the DNH don't know the Shinigami from the start and also making it so that if anyone claims to be Light, then Ryuk gets a free "Light" PM so that no one can use that as a defense.
-
Yeah, it was Aizawa (aka FOTH)'s smart move that made it impossible for Ryuk to win. But at the time, Dawh couldn't have know he was the one Aizawa trapped. But yeah, Ryuk is getting some major tweaks for DNM Rematch. I'm also thinking of making it bigger. Oh, one thing I do want to point out: the simplistic "Aha, a baddie! Let's get him!" mentality is bad in this game, as we saw with Misa's lynch, and it's suppose to be that way. I wanted it to be somewhat complex, and I'm glad that Light and L both tried to make good use of that . The goal was to find a baddie and use that to discover the other baddies and the identity of the baddie. It was apparent from Ben Law's actions that he was Rem protecting Misa. Oh, and Ben Law also got a win, since Misa survived.
-
Oh, yeah...thanks for reminding me...I was wondering if anyone picked up on how L's message read very much like a certain Bankroller Ultimatum....*cough* ;P
-
Hehe...I'd love to...but I thing Light needs a break ;P...actually there will definitely be another DNM sometime (with some adjustments), since so much of the potential (Wedy particularly) went untapped this short game, but I know unreality wanted to start some other game and Bb wants to do his Heroes Hybrid...and I try to be respectful of other people's plans . Haha...yeah the Yak thing was actually meant to be in homage to that great puzzle . Actually, I was planning to write it in that format and have the challenge be "figure out how CL died", but the game was over...oh well. Lol...actually the message wasn't announcing your doom...it was part of Sinistral's brilliant plan...but I'll let him tell you about it ;P.
-
No, you did a great job...you really lived up to the name of L . The only thing L had on you was that he had a little more "willingness to act"...(I've been looking at Death Note: How to Read 13 ;P), i.e. take chances. But otherwise, you were a great L . You all did great and a lot of thanks to you all for playing! There may be a rematch ;P and I'm planning some changes...to make it less hard on Ryuk, the DNH will not know the Shinigami at the beginning...for L I'll lower the percentages by 10% each...and Light can't trade for the Shinigami Eyes until Misa is dead...and I'll probably add another task force member. Of course, I also have version 2 planned...with Light vs. Mello vs. Near...;P

DAY TWO Red, orange, and gold rays burst through the clouds in the sky, and shot towards the Investigations building. The wind was still and the red, orange, and gold leaves of the trees near the building were motionless, calm. A bushy-tailed squirrel ran across the road to the base of a tree and paused, clinging fiercely onto his prize of an acorn, before climbing up the trunk and disappearing amidst the foliage. Inside, the Task Force Members were gathered in a circle around Misa, who gazed back at them with wide, innocent eyes. “You don’t want to do this!” Misa exclaimed. “I’m warning you…my Kira will kill you all!” “Yeah, yeah,” Cherry Lane dismissed with a wave of her hand. “Boy, today is easy!” “Let’s get this over with!” grunted Foolonthehill. “I need to get home to my family.” Joe’s Student approached Misa and grabbed her arm. Rene grabbed her other arm and they had her pinned. “Come on, let’s get that needle in her so we can all get on with our lives.” Rene griped. “I’m really craving some chocolate.” Itachi approached Misa slowly, the syringe in his hand raised high. Joe’s Student pulled out Misa’s arm roughly, exposing the veins. Joe’s Student smiled triumphantly, and behind him Woon cried “Yay, we get a baddie today!” Suddenly, Rene felt herself torn away from Misa. She lost her grasp on Misa’s arm and then felt her own arms grasped behind her. She turned, bewildered, to see the face of Dawh towering over her. “Aha! I knew you couldn’t be trusted” Foolonthehill declared. He rushed over towards the pair with the intent to help Rene. But on his way, he suddenly toppled over an outstretched foot. He landed flat and squarely on his face. Moaning in pain, he flipped himself over to look up into the blank eyes of…Cherry Lane. “What the…?” muttered Joe’s Student. He turned to Itachi with a questioning expression. Itachi had a calm, serene look in his eyes. “Don’t worry,” he replied. “It will all be over soon.” He gave Joe’s Student a placid smile. He held the syringe up to Misa’s arm…and abruptly twisted around and lunged at Rene, shoving the needle into her neck. Rene screamed in pain. Her blurry eyes looked unbelievingly at Itachi. “Why? I thought we were friends…we grew up together!” But Itachi’s eyes only gazed off into space blankly. Itachi was no longer home. Joe’s Student watched in total bewilderment as Itachi stepped indifferently over Rene’s body. Itachi grabbed JS’s head in his cold steely grip and forced him to his knees. Meanwhile, Cherry Lane had Woon clutched in a death vice, holding a razor-sharpened pencil to Woon’s neck. “MUHAHAHA!” sneered Sinistral as he glanced around the room. His eyes glowed red with triumph. “Brandonb was right when he said I was L, I am L, the second L, and I am Kira!” Misa bounded over cheerfully to his side, stepping on the prostrate FOTH’s abdomen while she was at it. He let out a pained “Oomph” but didn’t move. "Yeah!" she cried. "With Itchi-san and Cherry-chan under our control, as long as Ryuk sides with us, Misa Misa and her Kira have majority!" “Now, I am the God of the new world! Unfortunately, you will all soon be dead and therefore won’t be able to witness my glory. However, be assured that your sacrifices will not be in vain. Your blood will pave the way to a world of peace where Justice prevails!” Sinistral turned to Dawh and nodded in acknowledgement. “I could not have done this without you, Ryuk. You will get your reward, I promise you.” Misa brought out a backpack from under the table. She unzipped it and took out two black notebooks. On the fronts the words DEATH NOTE were lettered. She handed one over to Sinistral, and then retrieved a pen from her bodice. “So…how should the rest of them die?” she asked in an ingenuous, excited voice. That Night, CL was trampled by the Yak looking for the Philosopher. Itachi was slain by a Ninja named Sasuke carrying a Vicious Stabbity Sword. The following Night, Joe’s Student was run over by a football player. Woon was choked to death on a watermelon seed while reading the horoscopes in the newspaper. Foolonthehill went to fetch a pail of water, but fell down and broke his crown and was dead there ever after. Ryuk sat on top a barrel of apples, gazing into the horizon. Light and Misa would now create their perfect world. Criminals would be killed with the Death Note and all would respect and fear the God Kira, and law-abiding citizens would have nothing to fear…yada yada yada. What a boring world, thought Ryuk. He picked up an apple and bit into it. Oh well, at least I get this barrel of apples as a consolation prize. Shinigami King: Y Roster: 1) Dawh - [Ryuk] 2) Prof. Templeton [Misa] 3) Sinistral - [Light] 4) Cherry Lane - [Matsuda] 5) Grey Cells - [Chief Yagami] 6) Itachi-san - [Near] 7) Brandonb - [L] 8) Joe's Student - [Wedy] 9) Rene83 - [Mello] 10) Woon - [Watari] 11) FoolontheHill - [Aizawa] 12) Ben Law - [Rem] Good game to all! Congratulations to Sinistral for being the perfect Light and scheming up exactly the right move to win the game! And all the while he had everyone convinced that he was the perfect Task Force Member...but that's why he's the perfect Light, after all . Thanks to all for playing and special thanks to Prof. Templeton for his amazing Misa impression...I enjoyed it!
